BC Broncos Fuel Tank

I have a BC Broncos EFI fuel tank with an in tank pump and my whining fuel pump finally got on my nerves enough to drop the tank and try to isolate the pump from it's hard mount.

The molded hose that BC sells with their in tank kit has all but disintegrated... it's soft and gummy and will not be reusable. It's only been in use for 4 years...

Now I'm trying to decide how to proceed. I don't have a lot of confidence in that hose, even if I put a new one in if it's just going to fall apart every 5 years, but taking the pump out of the tank is going to be more work and even louder than in tank.

Any thoughts?

McMasterCarr sells viton hose that resists fuel. I've soaked one for 5 months in B100 and it didn't effect it one bit. Down side is it's thin wall. Have to go easy on hose clamps.

I also had a noisy pump with my BC tank. You could hear it above the motor and exhaust at idle. When I went to replace it I found the pump loose within the mount so I assumed the noise was the result of sitting on the tank floor. Put it back together and the damned thing still whined just as loudly.

Ultimately, I swapped it for this which solved the noise problem. I can't even hear the dern thing unless it is real quiet when I turn the key and prime the system.

With respect to the hose, mine came off due to loose clamp (see a trend here?) and when I called BC I believe they told me that they had received a batch of pumps that came with the wrong hose. I chose to re-use it and it is still going strong.

I have the same problem. I am no worried about the hose failing. What kind of gas does your state have. I wonder if the diff blends will effect it.

Also I wonder if that foam/rubber cover helps with the noise.

When I put my tank in, I purchased some gates submersible fuel line. It's outrageously priced. Seems like 10 bucks or so for about 6-8"

When I was dealing with mine I called aeromotive about the design intent of the foam sleeve they provide.

They said it was mainly for fitment in certain applications.

Installing this pump with the plastic mounting bracket provided by BC won't allow for the foam sleeve as it is too tight.

Over the weekend I was trying to come up with a better way to mount it to make it quieter. Instead of replacing the molded hose from BC, I toyed around with a straight hose came straight off the pickup hardline. Seems like a nice concept because the hose suspends the pump rather than, as Rox Crusher said, the pump slipping and resting on the bottom of the tank causing extra reverberation.

I haven't committed to it because I don't know how I feel about the pump just dangling. This also puts the screen right behind one of the baffles, but still at the lowest point in the tank...

Any thoughts?

The formed hose is the hose that comes with the pump and was designed to be submerged in gas. My guess is the methanol that is in most gas now is the problem. Recently we found that the bigger pump (255L) is quitter than the stock replacement mustang pumps (155L &190L). They do not all make so much noise, about 1 in 10 do, they still work fine but we no longer offer those, only the 255L just because of the noise. The cost is a little more for the 255L but if your pump is noisy and you want to upgrade we will warranty the little pump and charge the diff + shipping. Or we get them from auto zone and often they will war. them also.
PS, the pump should set on the screen that sets on the bottom.

Regular fuel hose is not designed to be exposed to fuel on the outside. Buy the submersible kind and it will last a long time with any modern pump gas.
