What's the best route to take on this. I know some offer a cage that will work with the bench seat but is there a clear "winner" to go with?

The bench I have will be getting covered later this month and the winter project (it will be here before you know it) is to get it installed and while I'm there, why not go ahead and add the cage.

Anything special I need to know about the bench and cage combo? There just insn't much info out there on this combo.

Pics would be GREAT.....

Here's what I am installing in my halfcab. Of course I am not installing any of the bars in the pic that would be outside the cab, but you get the idea. I am also having it tied into the frame and added gussets and a "chicken bar" for the wife. ;D

I can not see that it make much of a difference if you are using a front bench or buckets.

The cage design is nearly identical either way as far as I can see and I have built several caged for Broncos, all with front seat tie-ins (buckets).

Typically, the seat tie in bars are two bars that span the width of the floor and tie into two more bars that connect the legs of the A and B pillars down close to the floor (like pictured in the post above).

Whether you mount a bench or two buckets at the point is pretty much just up to putting the tabs in the right place for the seat(s) you are using.

As far as I can see, buckets can only add more options and challenges to the design (center console fit and mounting, shoulder belt bars with a pass-though for rear passengers, etc.), so the bench mount should be simpler with no console to worry about and only a straight shoulder belt tie in if one is desired since the walk though is not an option anyway.

If you plan to mount the seats to the floor, again, there is no real impact on the cage design vs. buckets.

I hate doing things twice. I have to drop the aux tank to install the bench as my 74 doesn't have the bench mounting holes so figure while I'm at it put the roll cage in.

Nice looking cage. Who sells that one?
