Put the radio in a Tuffy, not all CD players will work well at that angle... Aux CD player (changer) works great. Fill the holes with these:

I put mine in the tuffy and covered the hole with a piece of aluminum covered with headliner material. I then drilled a hole in it and mounted my Sirius radio to it. It works great, I think it looks fine, and can rest my hand on the t-case shifter to change channels.

I wasn't holding the camera crooked for the picture, the Bronco was stuck in a ditch at the time, I just cropped it down.;D

I made a little wooden box for my CD player and it drops in to whatever Bronco I'm going to drive. Call me cheap, but I only drive one of my 2 at a time. Simple 2-wire leads, antenna cable extender, and slide in speaker boxes on the rear wheel wells allow me to swap stereos in a minute or two. Notches for the seatbelt bolts hold the box from sliding around. I'll try and post pics later. Left my stock stereo in the dash.

Mine is in the dash right now, but I've been thinking about the tuffy console, and an aluminum panel to cover the hole in the dash would be a great place to mount some toggle switches for off road lights and such.

I've always had the Alpine head unit in the stock mounting place. Just seems like the natural place for it to me. Works great there! You know...you just reach out & crank the volume button up & down within a second  I even bought the non-stereo Tuffy when I had the choice.

radio options

I moved mine to the roll bar. two 4" speakers you see and two 4" on the roll bar behind the driver. When finished all the wire will run in the roll bar. It really cleaned up the area behind the dash.

Used an extra light switch for the offroad lights.

I just welded up the radio opening when I moved the glove box over.

another vote for the Tuffy, then used a steel overlay for the dash with a custom layout

I have mine in the tuffy, blaupunk (spelling sucks) makes a deck that can handle the angle if the tuffy. I will install one with ipod control within it.

Tuffy has two new products to fill the hole in the dash when relocating the stereo. Both are super simple bolt ins. One is a plate that can be drilled for mounting switches and the other is a small storage tray for keeping little items tucked away.

I like to put my sterio in the sterio hole. Works well. I've driven my rig for 12 years w/o any problems. Take the face plate and you are good to go. I too bought a tuffy w/o the stero, because I like to have the sterio in the dash.

I went the Tuffy console route too and it's been nice. I put a relatively cheap Sony X-Plod stereo/CD player in there & it's worked great for 7 years. For the dash I machined a plastic gauge panel that tilts my oil pressure, water temp, & tranny temp gauges towards the driver's seat. Painted it up to match the dash.

I mounted the CD player to the top. I pop-rivited a 12" X 24" sheet of 1/8" aluminum to the ribs in the top. I put the headliner back in and mounted a small CD player console using the aluminum sheet as a reinforcement because the headliner is made of fiberboard.
I'm looking at the pics of the gauges covering the old radio hole. Right now it is lined with a little box to put the CD player remote in.

Looks awesome, but my real question where did you get the bracket for the tach????

I want one of those, but for a 2 5/8 tach

I made the tach bracket at the same time I did the gauge bezel.....couldn't find what I wanted so I made it. Here's a pic of the CAD file I made for it. Uses good 'ol hose clamps to mount the bracket to the column & the tach cup to the bracket. Hopefully nobody will cop my design & make millions off of it! ;D
