Just pulled the complete system from a 2007 explorer. What is the best way to clean these? Can you media blast the aluminum brackets or just use a good degreaser?
Thanks

Clean everything, then paint it with cast iron colored spray paint. Looks great!

I've done 1 or 2... ;)
after disassembly, I scrape all the thick gunk off and then send them to the parts washer tank for a soak and scrub. Let them dry and then blast them. follow up with engine enamel (cast iron, cast aluminum or semi gloss black depending on what it is). They turn out pretty nice...

I first used the etching mag wheel cleaner suggested above to rebuild a horrid Carter AFB. It got all of the corrosion out of the internal ports as well as cleaning it up cosmetically. Recommended.

If you can find someone to vapor blast it you will not be disappointed.

I tossed mine in with the old headers I was having ceramic coated. They included it as part of their "Minimum charge". They almost look chromed. I think they media blast them before coating them. Of course I only did this after several failed attempts ps to clean them myself.
