I picked up two 81 Bronco's for $200 that both run and drive. One has a carburated 351 and an auto tranny. Im thinking about swapping the motor into my 69.Tranny looks different than the c4 in my 76. Does anyone what years the AOD came in ? Maybe tranny swap too

Could be a C6. Kinda early for the AOD What does the shifter say on it?

Shifter dosnt say anything. The reason I thought it might be an aod is that in the new Toms Bronco catalogue it states that the aod was introduced in 1980

Its a C-6 it was the only auto used in 81 broncos. as for the engine I'd check it real close while I believe 82 was the first year that 302's changed the balance 81 is close so check it before swapping as it can cause issues with flywheels and balancers. If your 69 has a 302 I think its a better engine than the 81
Sorry missed the 351 part. in that case its fine as far as balance goes.

The 302 is shot in the 69. I have a 347 stroker im putting together to put in my 76. My plan was to take the 302 out of my 76 and put it in the 69. Now that I have the 351 I have more options. Maybe I'll put the c6 behind the stroker motor and the 302 and c4 in the 69 and hang on to the 351 for later

'81 should be a 351M and C6 with the short intermidiet housing.
transfer case too wide to fit in the frame, NP208 I think (early 80's I am sketchy on)
NP205 will bolt up but the front driveshaft won't clear the pan. You need the long housing from a late 70's C6

81 should be a W in a bronco but it could have a M but I've never seen one in a bronco after 79. The M engines were usually only in 3/4 and 1 ton fleet type trucks after 79.

I just remember the M lasting until '82.
I have known a few people to go get there 351 out of an early 80's truck only to open the hood and be disappointed that it was an M. I thought the Bronco followed the same M pholosiphy. Didn't know they started the W that early.
