Biggest Regret on Your Build?

I wish that the truck were quieter cruising on the highway for sure! Probably the biggest mistake in regard to that was not doing a better job sound proofing the body to prevent the noise from coming through the body into the cab! Linex is not the answer for that by any means!

Love my truck but I think it is going back under the knife for sure when I have the necessary place to tackle a project like this a second time! However, the effort will be worth it because the value of these has gone through the roof it seems! I guess that is a good and bad thing! ;D

Note I didn't mention regretting my Super 44's. My wife is not as big of a fan of them as my neighbors, though... ;D

Not painting dash when it was apart..dumb dumb dumb.

Now if my wallet was bigger I'd have a lot more regrets but honestly, I love driving my Exploder 302 FI...NV4500...4.88s...35's...bronco hut exhaust both on and off the highway. Shoot, wife loved it so much we had to buy her one to build/drive.

Building it with constant project "creep", like buying parts I ended up not using because I changed direction, or adding crazy expensive stuff it didn't need (like Dart Block and expensive paint) instead of buying one already done so I could have spent the last 6 years driving it instead of working on it. %)

On the other hand, mine is built and not bought now ;D

It’s too bad more people don’t understand this concept! Well stated.

Oh I think I figured that one out quick . I could probably wheel most of what I do with a Pinto engine .
Ask Mark . All I do is steer

I could do what I do with a Pinto Engine because of gearing .
Don't believe me , ask Mark
Biggest regrets not buying a set of BC Bronco quarter guards
and not buying a 1200.00 steering tie rod drag link set .
It would have been a lot cheaper . A Lot
All I do is steer
My setup might not work where you go , but your setup might not work where I go either . It is interesting to see how they are setup in different parts of the country

Not starting with a vehicle that was big enough to carry 4 people and lunch (I started with a CJ5)

Trying to do too many things at once instead of doing one project at a time (resulted in years of down-time and less ability to use it while my kids were growing up).

Going with an auto trans with a manual valve body. Fun to drive, but NO compression braking (didn't research that enough) and my wife still wouldn't drive it. Took another project (and reacquiring a lot of parts) to get back to stock before I could afford a 5 speed / Atlas combo (should have done that to start with)

Trying to add fuel injection. Not to say it isn't better than a carb, but especially trying to do it with a bunch of other changes at the same time (see above) resulted in a lot of time and money and redoing things to finally end up with the stock setup (and a lot more reacquisition of parts I used to have).

Mine is simple, I wish I would have kept the very 1st EB I bought while being a struggling college student. I misspent my $$$ on things for the EB that I could have waited on. At the end, I didn't have any money left for engine work and was forced to sell it.

I also had a one owner '78, 400ci, 2bbl, low mileage, Bronco. That too got expensive, with mere fuel. I kick myself in the ass everytime I think about it. The worse part, the day after I sold it, the new owner calls me because I forgot to give him the fuel cap key. When I met him, all the character the Bronco had was gone. I even felt like buying it back, but at that time, buying a better fuel efficient vehicle was more important.

Dang...memories.

My only regret is not putting a 5 speed in it. I decided to keep the 3 speed for the original cool factor, but often find myself wishing I did a 5 speed.

Ditto to BRONCOchild. My regret is not keeping my 1976. I let it go in 1983 for next to nothing. Now I am looking to replace it and coming to realization it likely won't happen due to ridiculous market cost. But if a miracle happens, glad this forum exists with such great resources.

My biggest regret is selling my '74 Ranger 3 years ago after convincing myself it was necessary for my wife and I pay off some debt. The '74 was my first Bronco and I found just the one I wanted with sheet metal in amazing condition, virtually no mods from the PO, and according to the VIN the Bronco was even built the month and year I was born.

While I had it I put a crate 351 in that I did an EFI conversion on, I put a 2" body lift on, did the Chevy front disc brake conversion with hydroboost, carpet, twin stick and had the C4 and Dana 20 rebuilt. There was still a lot I wanted to do to it but I was building it just the way I wanted and I sold it!! What was I thinking?!

Cutting the wheel wells. Although at this point I probably need a new body from all the rot anyways. But as long as I am wheeling it instead of using it as a cruiser I will leave it as is.
