I liked the 66 when I had it! I hope it stays original too! The other service halfcab 66 I used to own got erased I heard. And I owned the 73 baja briefly. It was totally original in the mid 90s when I first saw it in Pasadena. It remained that way despite the engine change to efi/aod for many years... sad to see the wheels and a few other things no longer on it ...

I hate you didn't get it man, You definitely put the work in being at the auction. Do you know if Pete(I think that was his name) got the explorer?
Yes, I really wanted it bad, and I had in my mind set at $80k and I ended up going up to $85K. No telling if we would have kept going like the 1977 one did Thursday for $120k. No, Pete didn`t get the Explorer, for some reason he didn`t even get in the bidding for it. I guess you are all smiles with yours ? Overall, I had a great time there and don`t regret the time I spent there. Nice meeting you !!

Well, I reckon it's good that you knew when you needed to stop. It sure seemed like it'd be easy to keep goin up in thousand dollar increments. Haha... Ah, I certainly had hopes that both of y'all would get the ones you wanted. I knew after meeting y'all that the trucks would remain how they are if y'all were the owners. Fingers crossed the new ones don't change a thing.

Here are some pics of the Green Ranger, sold for 86K. This one one super solid original bronco with just a little inner fender rust on the passenger side.

Here are some pics of the Hot Ginger Ranger, sold for 70K. I should have snapped more pics of this one. It had some substantial rust issues for as nice as it looked. There is rust forming in the rear quarter seams and is starting to bubble and crack. There is also substantial rust on the backside of the a pillar towards the bottom at the front of the rocker on both sides, in the splash areas. Bottom of the tailgate was rusty as well. This bronco sure showed pretty under the lights. I'm pretty sure the buyer didn't look underneath it and in the nooks and crannies tho.

Here is the Blue "restored" 77. This truck looked great from a distance and would be perfect for someone that doesn't care about anything but wanting a shiny blue bronco. The paint looks pretty decent but they kinda slacked on metal work. The rockers didn't line up, door gaps were off, and the floor pans were lapped when they were put in. They left old lines attached to the frame that weren't connected to anything and just painted black over them. Painted black over old dry and cracked bushings etc and even left the gaskets out of the front signals and bolted them right up against the grill. It looked like a quick rushed resto that the majority of us cringe at. Oh! and I guess they replaced the rear quarters and didn't think they need to put the gas door back in. Doh!

Here are pics of the Royal Maroon 69...Sold for 54K. It had been repainted once but was actually a really nice and dry bronco. Had the typical inner fender rust in the engine bay and a little on the drivers side front rocker in the splash area as well as a little bit on the drivers side floor in the crease. I should have shot more photos of it but only got these three.

Here's the Orange Explorer, sold for 100K. This was certainly a superb bronco. It had the nicest original explorer mat that Ive ever seen in it. The interior was basically perfect. I even liked the old school roll bar. I did notice that the passenger front fender had been painted from the trim down. There was also signs of old bondo on the passenger rocker but there was no evidence of any rust or rust repair so Im not sure what that was about. Ultimately a really nice survivor that I didn't spot a bit of actual rust in. The underneath was really clean. If someone got this truck and had the bottom dry ice cleaned it would be a show stopper in my opinion. If it was mine I'd probably have to retry the fender repaint to get the color a little closer and add some patina marks to look a little more original.

Here's the 77 Special Decor, sold for 120K... This was a really really nice bronco. The only flaw I saw in this truck is that someone had spray painted the frame and front springs, steering etc with flat black spray paint. It was obvious they sprayed over surface rust and everything just to "clean it up", most likely for the auction.

Here's a 1969 Yellow bronco... Not really my cup of tea but I took these pics so I thought Id share. It was bid to 40k but didn't meet the reserve. I didn't look at this truck closely so I'm not sure what condition it was in. Looked decent from standing beside it.

I don`t understand that this Bronco sold 11 months ago on Bring a Trailer for $71,500 and it just sold at this auction for $120,000. What changed in the increase price in it ? They keep saying the market is slowing down on these early Bronco`s, I don`t guess so

Here are the Stroppes. The nicer more original one didn't sell with a high bid of 130K and the other with the explorer motor sold for 125K which I felt was a pretty good deal, however the new owner will have to find a lot of parts if they want it to be correct. Pretty bummed I didn't look at these closer and get more detailed pics. Im not a Stroppe guru so I didn't look as close as I probably should have. They both seemed like really nice broncos and done really well. I was told that these broncos were purchased by a collector to rob some parts for other restorations and then sold to the dealer that had them at auction.

Okay, so here is the 66, Sold for 41K. This is the one I was after so I took a lot of photos and eyeballed it for hours over the course of two days before it crossed the block. This truck is incredibly solid and has had one repaint. It looks like there is a little mud in it but it has never had any rust repair done. It is incredibly clean underneath and was the only bronco without some sort of leak under it, other than the Bajas. Most of the 66 only parts are there. From my knowledge it's just the speedo and side mirror that are incorrect? Please correct me if I am wrong.
