I found a shop in the area that does highend restorations, body work, paint, extra. And they are currently building there 6th bronco for the same client, this one is being built with a brand new Dynacorn body, they are assembling all the panels. They appear as if they do good work and know Broncos so I think I'm going to try to get them to do the repairs. The insurance company hasn't inspected it yet so we are waiting on that.

Wow that's great! So what happened exactly? They tried to sneak across an intersection and clipped you?

I dont think it will be totaled but let us know what they say.

I was on a big road going with a green light through an intersection and someone pulled out left in front of me about 3 car lengths ahead of me

Sorry for the bad luck!

Stewart at velocity restorations is a great guy and has a talented crew. They are definitely the type of shop that will get your bronco back in the condition it was in before the accident or even better.

When that bumper got ripped off from the impact it's a good thing the winch cables didn't sever and create an electrical fire. That coulda got pretty intense. Hope your carrying a fire extinguisher just in case

One thing that caught my eye is how the frame horns were ripped off. Does that bumper utilize 3 mounting points per frame horn or 2?

The bumper wasn't mounted very well, just a single bolt on each side through the bumper and the standard frame horns.

That's quite a bit of damage considering how much a bronco gives rather than takes. Really glad you're okay and your bronco can be repaired. Keep us posted.

Did the airbags go off?

Seriously, mine was basically totaled by a guy in '91. He didn't have insurance and I only had liability. I had to come up with comparable quotes to show equal value to settle on a repair value. I also had to take it to 3 shops and get quote. We settled on the average quote of $2500 in 1991. He paid me monthly while I rebuilt it. I'm no body guy so I was terribly slow and still not very good.

Hang in there.

Glad your not hurt. Make sure the lot it is stored at is secure and get all the loose stuff out of it. You don't want to go back and all your stuff is gone from the truck. If you have room, I would have it brought to the house, but I have trust issues ;D;D;D

When I had my fire, my insurance did a book value of 6500.00. The repair job was 12500.00. The hey wanted to total it I refused and had to get a private estimate from a professional appraise which was 22000.00. They quickly changed there minds and did a wonderful job paying for all the work from 3 different shops.

It sounds like the insurance company is going to try to say its totaled, apparently i need a new frame, front right suspension, axle, grill, hood, fender, inner fender, door post, etc. plus all the labor and paint.

If your policy has it insured around $35k, the estimate would have to be over $24k

I don't think they would total that! 24000 can fix a lot of stuff plus if you push the will go over that amount some as well.

Sorry to learn of your crash. Glad you are ok though. I can see this starting a new thread on insurance recomendations. We may all be able to learn something out of this.

How important is the Vin number on this to you? Like I mentioned in an earlier post..... If they total it, get the buyback balance. If it's worth it, you can avoid having a salvage title by purchasing a rotted clean title Bronco for cheap, and swapping parts over. I know it's not what you had in mind, but it might be your best option, and you could come out on top.

Do not LET them do this. I understand that it may come to that point, but that point better be miles down the road. What I mean by that, is fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, and fight that some more. That thing is fixable. Think about how fast it would sell if it was on the sale forum, even in its current condition.

Don't sign anything until you read every last line. Find someone local you trust to help you navigate through the process.

I agree don't let them total that! I have Haggerty insurance very good and very reasonable priced. That bronco looks very fixable
