FRS & GMRS radios are sold everywhere,Sporting Goods,Most department stores and even wallyworld. They are hand held and battery operated.
Motorola, Cobra, Uniden, and most every maker of Cb's manufactures them. Normally sold in pairs and many have charging bases with rechargeable batteries.
Here is a set from best buy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8804582&st=GMRS+radios&type=product&id=1209165019958 .....or http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8824533&st=GMRS+radios&type=product&id=1209165020688
Watch for them on sale, I've seen them for $20 at Home depot.

They can have a very long range and each channel will have many 38 or more privacy codes which allow you to talk without much outside interference.

Use of some of the Hi power or long range channels may require a licence.

So do you have to register for the event just to run the trails? (Sorry stupid question but it's my first event ever.) Also Nick I'm gonna leave with the convoy in the morning. you said you'd be there at 7, are you leaving at 7? I know the rest of the convoy leaves at 8.

Nik- yes, you need to register to do the runs. This is a non profit event, but there are lots of expenses that occur putting on an event like this. Every registered bronco is given something to identify they are registered, either a ribbon or sticker. I can feel your excitement:eek: :D ;)

Sorry to say I wont be able to join you guys at Denney’s, but if all goes as planed I will be leaving from my house in southern riverside co early Friday and will be coming down the SR 79 to the 78 so keep an eye out for a bounder motor home towing a Turquoise 67 soft top and I will see you all there.

you can still register online at the early bronco registry or you can register on site at bronco central but if you do it online it is certain you'll get the whole package.

I already registered online, just asking for my friend who has a jeep. I'll just tell him to pay on site... he probably doesn't want a Bronco shirt anyways.

Well had the Bronco ready to go; so I registered online and reserved a RV space.
Went wheeling with a bunch in our club, Broncos running great and talking on the CB and bump a small rock. The engine stalled, went to restart a just click.
Lights bright so tried jumping and beating starter but no luck.
Then I got a breaker bar and socket and tried to turn the crank, motor seized.
Droped a timeing chain or a valve. spent the last 4 hours getting hauled off the mountain (shameful behind a jeep but no pictures)
Looks like I am going to have to find a suitable donor motor if I'm going to make to show....

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I guess it is safe to say without a complete motor at your disposal you would have to do a full disassemble of your current motor? that is awful man ! it has to be a chain because I dropped a valve on the 74 and it ran for months.

OUCH! That's the worst thing ever when you just get it ready to go and then something serious like this happens. I hope you find a donor motor in time!
