I would be interested as long as it is not a cheesy looking attempt at a bronco ;) for 30 bucks it needs to be a nice looking model.

I'm using the ford drawings and my '74 for measurements. It should look pretty accurate. I absolutely hate a model kit that looks wrong. I just bought the AMT Pro Shop '32 Ford. Opened up the box and I was astonished at how inaccurate it was! Here at the rod shop we sculpt cars to look the way they should, so accuracy shouldn't be a problem.

New pics in the gallery. I pulled the first plastic part from the mold this morning. This piece will not be used during the process, but will be my back-up master plug in case the original gets destroyed (which it will-for sure). Also, it helped me see what things I need to refine before the final mold can be made.

Part looks good! One note: you could easily add the door & rocker panel lines into the master, that way they'd be in the castings....silicone molds can pick up AMAZING details (even fingerprints that might have been left on a pattern....ugggh) and, assuming it's just a scribe line, it shouldn't effect the mold life.

Can't wait to see how things progress. I think the $30.00 price tag is awesome if you can do it....even twice that price for what looks to be a very nice model kit would be good from my perspective!

Dang, thanks for the compliments! The biggest issue I am running into now is trying to figure out how to get the body shell down to 1/16th inch thick all the way around. I've tried the "slosh" method, but the plastic won't cure if I do that. dan, how do you get bubbles to come out of silicone? Just pour it in a thin stream so the bubbles pop before they hit the mold?

I tell you what, not a second has passed by for the last week or so that this project hasn't run through my mind. It's so much fun.

I have been advised by people more experienced than I to lay low until the project is done, so I will probably have only one more photo update (when the first kit-worthy side is pulled from the mold) before the project is done. Personally, I think it's unnecessary, but who knows?

If somebody is in the loop to help make parts (so far only one other person) they will get occasional updates.

If anybody here has anymore suggestions, please PM (don't post them on this thread) them to me.

Thanks for your support everybody! It truely is an addiction.

I voted as definitely interested but the poll brings a question to mind: does any of us actually do anything Bronco related with high hopes of "breaking even"? I'm sure some of the vendors & those offering services can make a decent living at it, but I never approach any EB project (upgrade, repair, picture, etc.) expecting the dividends to be much more than my own satisfaction.....just sayin'...

Phlyboy: sent you a PM

Man, that is off the charts! I'm definately keepin my eyes peeled for the day those are available. I'd love to get involved in this project, but I never even have time to do the things I need to do!

One thing to keep in mind though, Ford Motor Company seems to be pretty picky about copyright. You mentioned other model companies and copyrights, I'd check into that as far as the Blue Oval is concerned. Just a heads up if you didn't already consider it.

P.S. Give me somethin to throw at that guy that said "twice the price would even be fair"!;D Seriously, people will be stealing these at 30 bones a pop. Glad to see someone that is more interested in a quality, accurate product rather than thickening his wallet. Keep up the AWSOME WORK BROTHER!!!

haha, thanks. I am also worried about Ford copyright and trademark issues, but as long as I don't actually have the Ford label anywhere on packaging, etc, I should be okay (I think).

The grille and Tailgate lettering should be okay, I'd think, because I am replicating what I see in my art. It would be like somebody using that in their painting-they are replicating what they see-it's their art, not Ford's.

I also thought about leaving all emblems off the car-the builder would then have to put them on, but that's really easy.

What do you all think about leaving emblems off of the model (for safety's sake)? I would include instructions on how to put them on-it's really easy. Please let me know.

Well, I just contacted FOMOCO's advertising and marketing department, so we'll see what they say. The following is the entire message I sent them:

"I am planning to make some art depicting an older Ford vehicle from the 60s and 70s. Can I depict the "F O R D" that came on the front and back of the vehicle, or do I have to leave those out? I will not be using the blue oval anywhere, just depicting what I see as I see it. Thanks for your time and help."

If they say no, I'll just have instructions showing how to make emblems. From what I read on the net, Ford doesn't mind people using the likeness of their vehicles, just the Blue Oval.

Just make each letter separate and make it to where the person glues each one on. Then they dont know if its suppose to say DORF or RODF etc

Pflyboy, I am looking to have the Ford stuff done in Photo Etch. If you leave the badges/letters off, purchasing from another source might be a good solution to that worry.
