Over the last month Ive noticed a series of ads showing well equipped Broncos for sale for very little money. I knew they were scams as soon as I saw the first ad but they werent being removed by Craigslist. Decided to write a couple of them and talk about a scripted response. This is the 3rd set of ads I have seen, each has a different description with barely any info and a new angle. I wonder if the real owners know these guys are using their photos...I have reported them and their email addresses to CL.

First one:

I saw this ad a couple weeks ago and it had probably 8 pictures showing every angle of the Bronco with very little detail. Saw the price and knew immediately it was a scam. His response to me:

Thanks for replying to my ad. I'm in a hurry to find a buyer because I have a family emergency and I need to sell it before october 8th. My name is Derek Johnson. I'm an Air Force Alaska. The vehicle is here with me.

Absolutely immaculate: 1972 Ford Bronco,only 398 miles.Transmission:Automatic,
only owner!

Here you can find more pictures of the vehicle(DONT CLICK): http://s1274.photobucket.com/albums/y435/derekjhn22/

It is still available for sale if interested, price as stated in the ad $2700 If you want to buy this vehicle I will take care of shipping. Shipping will be door to door, to your home address and I will offer 5 days to inspect the vehicle from the moment you receive it (and the option to accept or reject the vehicle on my expense), before I'll have your money. So if you need further information please get back to me as soon as possible.

I look forward to hearing from you,
Staff Sgt. Derek Johnson

Heres the second:

I am sorry for my late answer but I was very busy and didn't had time to access the PC. Thank you for your interest in the 1973 Ford Bronco 4x4 that I have for sale. It is still available.
The price is $ 2,700 with shipping and insurance included ( if needed ) .
From the beginning I have to tell you that the truck has no damages, scratches or any known problems. This is a perfect example of a classic early bronco. This truck fires up every time runs strong and sounds healthy. The motor has been recently tuned and all fluids changed. The truck was painted on both sides and the top last month, hood was painted with a fresh coat of clear. The bronco has a 302 V8, power steering, dana 44 limited slip, 4" lift kit, edlebroch carb, new 33" 12.5 r15 BFG all terrain tires, 3 speed converted to the floor. The interior floors are line x'd and seriously look brand new. The truck is in a perfect shape and condition, and I am only selling it at this price due to my financial problems.

Here you have more pictures of the truck : http://s1154.photobucket.com/albums/p530/johnmirco23/

If you are interested feel free to e-mail me back.

Best regards,

Dylan

A well done Bronco under $3k should be the first flag, Any time the seller says shipping or insurance(which he cant offer) is included, that should raise another flag. I am seeing these ads across multiple cities here in AZ. Dont be fooled!

Derek Johnson is the name of a person who is a member here. I've corresponded with him and his email routinely sends me spam, I questioned him about it once and he seem to be aware of his computer going nuts, but not overly concerned, or at least didn't describe what kind of issues he was having.

I'll do some digging later, need to be on my home PC to see the pics, he has a red half cab I think.

First one (orange) was on San Diego CL too. I knew it was a scam and emailed the con for entertainment purposes, got the identical email from "Staff Sgt." Douchebag Johnson. %)

The owner of the ornage Bronco is/was from Utah, as I have seen the same CL listing in Colorado. One of the photos had a clean image of the license plate, showing Utah plates.

They've both been listed nation wide for weeks, especially the silver one.

I doubt the second one is from Tucson... does he say what city? There is snow in the back ground.

ok let me add that in the second one there are trees and grass. On my one trip through part of Arizona I didnt see anything that resembled grass or trees. Just rocks and dirt. :)

I have seen that house in the background on numerous adds for different SCAM type vehicles when I was looking for a Harley back in the day!
