I have the valve body out of the trans. I was having some line presure issues and was looking for a stuck valve. I think I found one but now i am putting it back together and there a 3 check balls. 2 on one side of the plate and one on the other side of the plate. I know where the 2 go but have no idea where the other one goes. Anyone got a diagram ?

Thanks Guys I have it back together. Still broke. I was hoping for a stuck valve in the valve body. Never found anything wrong. put it back together. Still have a weak reverse and no high gear. So it must be a pump / line pressure issue.

so your balls are placed correctly and your pump does not work?

Could still be a clutch seal issue. How did the pressure look?

I got the gauges to check it but it really doesn't matter. It has to be removed to be fixed. If the pump is bad it will have bad pressure and if a seal is rolled over it will have bad pressure. F'ed either way.

If the pump is bad it will have low pressure. If a direct clutch seal is bad it will have good pressure until it trys to shift into 3rd or reverse. It can point to the problem area but if you already dumped the oil no sense testing pressure. Just check everything while its apart.

I just opened up one today that had no 3rd gear but reverse worked. Pump, seals, and valve body were all fine. Direct clutch piston was cracked.
