Looking for a shop to drop my c4, rebuild it and reinstall. Has anyone done this recently with a local shop in CA and what did it cost?

Any shop recommendations in CA to have this done?

Southern, Central, or Northern California? Big region, so if you’re looking for removal and installation as well, you might as well give us an area so we can narrow it down and you don’t have to travel seven hours to get the work done.

Used to use peninsula transmission up here in Northern California, but don’t even know if they’re still in business. There’s another one in San Jose that’s fairly highly regarded, but I can’t remember their name. Yet…
Member 904 Bronco here has had several done at a local shop in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale, but I think he’s always brought the transmission in loose and just had them do the work. Then he reinstalled it himself.
I’m gonna guess, that if you bring a vehicle in to have them do the full R&R, you’re easily looking at $2000 to 4000.
Most shops don’t like 50 year-old trucks. Removing a recalcitrant old transfer case, intermediate, housing, transmission, and then finding all sorts of other problems and crap to deal with, they’re likely to quote you the quote. We really don’t want to do the work end“ price.
But even still, if you’re in an expensive area, that $4000 guess is probably not out of line.

Southern california, valley and anywhere in the bay area would be acceptable.

Thanks for the info, im seeing prices $3k and up for RR. Alot of shops wont even touch it and some will do a bench rebuild as a "favor" but not really something they do. Ive seen some rebuilt on FB marketplace, but hard to trust it was done correctly.

Realistically, it should be <2500. Lot of the guys I know will not bench build because owners install incorrectly.
