Started on my frame tie-ins tonight, these are the "B" pillars.

Will butt weld tube to a a fishplate stitch and plug welded to frame, possibly add a gusset on the top of the tube to the frame as well.

Those look really good, I need some ideas for when I get that far. What are you using for the bushings. Did you buy the posts or fab them yourself?

I am using 73-87 Chevy half ton poly leaf spring bushings, they have an OD of about 1.5", perfect for installing into 1.75" .120 wall tube, come in sets of 4.

The 1/4" tabs I had leftover from my seatbelt install, and the footplates a local shop punches out for about $3 each. I have a Protools bender and notcher, kinda just using up leftovers. :D

Looks good here are some pics of my frame tie ins I did a few years ago, pretty similar.

I had two "L" brackets that went around the frame, the best pic I have is attached. The right side you can see the frame area and plates. Regardless the weakest link is the pipe to plate weld (least weld area, so if your concerned about it, gusset the pipe to plate). edit... you said you were going to gusset...

Keep up with the pics, wish I had some better ones to show!

Just me personally, but I like to see tie-ins provide strength both in the up/down direction (as you already have), but also in the fore/aft direction.

I'd run a tube at an angle from the frame up to your tie-ins. Not that much more effort and much stronger.

I don't have a bodylift so the angles shallow, I tried to locate the the tube as low on the frame as I could; I may gusset.

A pillars done, what a pain, I didnt plan my A pillar landings well, my thru the dash cage ended up just fore of the door sill on the lower floor pan: the body x-member and the body mounts were in the way - I should have had them on the upper part of the floor pan.... Ended up having to cut the epoxy primed seam sealed bedlined under body (ARRGHH) and give the notches a few degrees to clear the body mounts.

And rear bump stops while I was at it. "C" pillar tie ins later. That requires even more thought and fab...
