The new stuff out is pretty easy to bend by hand, but I needed a shorter piece. My flare tool just pushes it out the other side. I guess it is to soft. Any tips besides new line?

By "new" are you referring to the vinyl coated lines? If so, you can flare them, you just need dies that that are in good condition and very tight, otherwise it does seem prone to slipping. If your dies have score lines inside to help give it some tooth for holding the hard lines, you may need to sharpen those up with a scribe or something similar.

Think it's called poly armour, and it's the hand bendable lines. tool is new, the coating is sliding right off and so is the metal on the line.

I've found that I just have to tighten the dies extra tight with the plastic coated tubing, but it still works, although it does tend to leave witness marks in the plastic. I usually use the Mastercool hydraulic flaring tool. You can get shorter (8" to 72") pre-flared "poly-armour" lines as well if you're just doing the shorter runs on the rig.

If your flaring tool isn't up to it, you could always have a hydraulic shop flare them for you once you've bent them up and fit them.

Did you get it to work??

Did you ever get your line flared?? I got the same problem. Everytime I go to start the flare and tighten down on the tube it just slides out the other side. I have put all I got into it to make sure the wing nuts are tight. My tool is brand new "Am Pro" brand or somethign like that.

Yes I did, I was able to add more force to my tool. I gave up on the wing nut ones awhile back, I couldn't do the standard lines most of the time. Would have to wring down on the wing nuts and then clamp in a vice. Ebay has a street rodder tool that works real well, but you can't adjust the tightness, I figured a way for that one line.

I ground down the mating surfaces of the tool, this way I got a real bite onto the line. works quite well.
Take the flaring tool apart and lightly grind where the two wing-nut screws clamp the tool's steel together, try and keep the grind flat and square.
