For anybody who remembers Erik Christensen.
AkA.. Captain Airtime
..CAT
These were his classic bronco names and I believe on EBML also.
Erik was a great friend of mine and accompanied me on many roadtrips to Bronco events.
Erik lost the battle with cancer last Monday. He had a very aggressive form of cancer which caused him to lose most of his eyesight and mobility. He was only 52.

Oh man, that is such awful news to hear, Gary. I haven't had contact with Erik in recent years, but oh the memories of you two at Bronco events over the years - priceless. Erik definitely left his mark on the Early Bronco community over the years. He was definitely one of a kind!

RIP Capt. Airtime!

Another good one gone. I remember Erik from SOB and the Bronco 40th in Victorville (was that really 20 years ago?) RIP, Erik! Gary, thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Erik was a great guy, he will be missed. Some of my fondest SOB memories feature Erik. So many CAT stories come to mind! One of a kind and larger than life.

Rest In Peace, Erik.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
His mom told me he was getting worse. I made the trek to go see him on the day before he passed.
He knew my wife and I were there but could only raise one hand hold/ squeeze mine.
You could slightly see the Erik smirk as I talked about trips and things we had done.

He will be missed.

Oh man. Sorry to hear this and sorry for the loss. He was a lot of fun on this trip to the Rubicon in ‘98 as well as others and on the web. Missed for sure. ❤️

The Infamous No Charging System on the Rubicon when the Optima battery got into the fan trip? He told me about bumming a charge off the idling diesels in truck stops and road-side rest areas overnight on his way home. He said that battery lived for a couple of years after that with just some duct tape over the hole. Then the duct tape dried out and fell off, and he didn't spot it until after the battery was toast.

@lars was kind enough to send me this pic from the 40th when we did a "Tour de Calico". It's not a great pic of him, but Erik is standing between @TAC71 (yellow shirt) and I. As it happens there is another now lost, larger than life Bronco personality also in this picture. Roger Bell. He's second from the right, next to two other famous Bronco people.

SoCA Bronco people who've I've lead in the past may recognize the local as the Edge of the World.
