Does anybody know if this'll work on the conversion? If not, what is the difference between the spindle from the 72?

The key is that the blazer has to have a dana 44.

There is another thread going on now about using a spacer/washer on the bronco drum spindle instead of swapping spindles. You may want to look at it.

there is 2 different spindles 1 is a big bearing and 1 is a small bearing The small bearing ones are used for around 3 year 73 74 and 75 those are the ones you need but you should check out the thread on ford drum spindle and chevy conversions

I am not a chevy guy, so I could be wrong. But I didn't think Chevy came out with disk brakes until '73 on the 4WD. Could the '71 Blazer you are looking at have had it's axle/brakes replaced with newer parts?

Wow , the small bearing spindles are cheap and easy to find almost everywhere. the thread on using the washer sure seemed like it was taking the long way around the barn;)

dISC BRAKES

sO I CAN'T TELL IF YOU ARE PUTTING DISC BRAKES ON THE FRONT OR BACK. wELL I AM GOING TO SHEED SOME LIGHT AN YOU MESS! wELL FIRST OF ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOUR WORKING WITH. iF YOU BRONCO IS NEWER THAN A 71. i HAS A DANA 44 ALMOST 99% SURE. sO IF IT DOES. aLL YOU NEED TO DO IS EITHER GO TO A WRECKING YARD AND FIND THE KNUCKLES THAT THE BALL JOINTS GO INTO. iF YOU CAN FIND A FORD TRUCK 4X4 FROM 73-79 F150 IT WILL HAVE THE ONE YOU NEED TO PUT DISC BRAKES ON YOUR. oK IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE AXLE RIGHT. tIRES PULLED OFF. yOU WILL SEE THE PUMPKIN OR GEAR HOUSING IN THE MIDDLE. aND AS YOU MOVE AWAY FROM IT BOTH WAYS YOU WILL COME TO THE END OF THE SOLID TUBE RIGHT. What you need to put disc brakes on your is everything thatis after th end of the tube. There are two ball joints u can see that are what hold the brakes and everything on to the axle tube. Yo need to remove the two ball joints on each side. So all thats there left is the bare housing at the end. And when you go to install it on your. All you have to do is knock the ball joints out of yours and put the whole assembly one in place of yours. Make sure yo buy new ball joints.
Oh and i just found this yesterday. Its everything you need to buy and know to install discbrakes on your rear end with small bearing housing for under 150.00
