Clutch equalizer bar frame bracket alignment

I can usually find the answers I am looking with a little time and patience using the search function, but I must not be using the correct words to search on.

What I am looking for is any guidance or consideration to ensure the frame mount bracket for the clutch equalizer bar is aligned properly. I am installing the new bushing/felt kit, but I never had to re-install this mechanism and noticed that the frame bracket bolt holes are slotted for adjustment. Is it a matter of just bolting it up via the eyeball method and ensure there is no binding, or is there more to this that I need to consider?

Just want to get some insight before I get started putting this back together I figure out the hard way that I screwed it up.

Start by neutralizing the engine/trans mounts. THIS IS IMPORTANT for more reasons than just the clutch linkage, so take the time to read this caption & then do it right:

I had to reset mine during my build (when the engine couldn't be started & the drivetrain wasn't assembled) so I had to use a prybar:

.

Next, make sure the body is roughly centered above each body mount. IOW: make sure the body mount bolts don't lean relative to the body or frame. You may need a bottle jack to shift it.

Once the engine end of the Z-bar & the clutch pedal are in the right place, you can put the frame end where it goes. It's not a hyper-critical adjustment, but ideally, it should be placed so that, with the pedal HALFWAY depressed (the linkage at the midpoint of its travel), the arms are perpendicular to the pushrod. It may be easier to make this setting with the release rod OFF the clutch fork.

While I had mine out I used some bronze bushings from Lowes/Home Depot for the other rods, input and output…..the original holes were oval. Right or wrong I just eyeballed it once I had the tranny put back in, seems to be working fine.

My trail rig went together without a single bushing and was flawless with good motor mounts - I replaced all the felts, clips and inserts and have nothing but problems with it, lol.
