Clutch Rod Adjustment

I just got a body lift put on and the clutch is not adjusted the way I'd like or the way it used to be. I'm having to slam it into the floor to get it to engage in first and reverse and it's more stiff on other gears. I've read several threads on how to adjust the clutch linkage but I want to be clear before I do anything. Which way should I adjust to make it engage earlier, in other words where I'm not having to press down as hard/far. I had to remove my floor mats because they wouldn't allow it to go far enough it seems.

If you have the stock clutch rod, its not adjustable. So depending on the the height of the body lift you might need a new adjustable one.

Here is a link to a 2" BL clutch rod on Toms. https://www.tomsbroncoparts.com/pro...clips-2-body-lift-66-77-early-ford-bronco-new

You might be able to adjust you clutch adjustment rod some to get the space you need. This piece. https://www.tomsbroncoparts.com/pro...rod-v8-289302351w-66-77-early-ford-bronco-new

What Smedley said. You need to make it longer to fix your issue. Just be sure you don't unwind it too far and not have enough threads to support the nut and end.

Correct. Some can do it with their existing one, some need a new one to double up on the available adjustment range.

I don't know which category I fall into, since I already had a beefier replacement rod I made when my original one broke. Because it had a slight amount of adjustment built in, perhaps that was what helped.
But I don't really remember even having to adjust mine either, so it's hard to tell.

Good luck Bulldog. Hopefully you can get it dialed in easily.

I got tired of the holes being oblonged before I bought mine and the worn rod ends so bushings wouldn't hold up. I bought two 3/8" heim ends with a center rod threaded on both ends. I am now able to clamp the heim end on each lever and have adjustability and minimal play in the linkage. It was super cheap to build at the time and has held up real well.

It's funny I just tried adjusting mine today. I have the opposite issue, mine engages at the extreme top of the throw. There are 2 rods, one that's attached to the clutch pedal and then another you'll see a little farther under the truck that attaches to the clutch fork. It should be threaded and have some jamb nuts, there could also be a spring running along side the rod attached to the clutch fork. Just take the spring off of the clutch fork side to make things easier and loosen the jamb nut. The threaded rod should spin easily in and out so adjust a little and pop the spring back on and test out the engagement point. Once you're happy tighten up the jamb nut again. I will say that 1/2" adjustment on that rod made a bigger difference than I would have expected, so it may take a couple adjustments to get it perfect.
