Just installed a B&M deep pan. So the original capacity was 11 qts. whit new pan add 2 qut for a total of 13 qts.

(torque converter drained too)
O.K. added 4 to the empty pan. started it up for a few seconds sutit down. added two more (total 6) Started it up, went through the gears, kept it running added 7 qut more. (total 12, 1 under ideal) went for a ride. Through the gears, in reverse a few times went home. Truck is up to temp.
Check the dipstick and its 4" higher the the "Full" mark and fluid is pissing out the top vent.
O.K. whats up? do I drain some or let it settle (engine off)
Or run it at a high level?

How did you drain the torque converter?

You'll need to drain the excess. Better a little low than too much. The stuff expands quite a bit when it gets really hot.

11 quarts is a completely empty transmission. If all you did was change the pan you didn't get all the old oil out.

Well I drained the t-c and had the pan off. There wes no second plug on the t-c, but it did not seem to drain much out of the t-c ( maybe 2 qts)
My owner manual says 11 qts.
So I might drain some out (now that I have a drain plug on the pan)

No real way to drain all the fluid out of the system to get clean start. Just drain to the proper level and enjoy.
