Convenient place to find hot on run

I thought the "I" on the solenoid was hot on run; now I'm thinking no.

I've got to splice my electric choke and fuel pump into a hot on run.

Can anyone recommend a convenient location? Mine is a '76 Bronco.

Thanks in advance.

EDITED TO ADD:

Oh yeah, I'm adding a 3G at the same time I'm installing a new motor.

if stock, use STA term on alt, this is where it goes stock.tap into hot side of any switched fuse.then put your fused lead to fuel pump.OH! sta term is for choke.

Did your car come with the throttle solenoid? That wire is a hot on run. I wouldn't try to put too much load on it but I use it to pick up a relay to run my choke & fuel pump.

Most of the time the sta(tor) terminal on the back of the alternator is perfect for the choke. It is only hot with the engine running, not just the key on. So if you turn the key on, wait a few minutes to actually start it, the choke will still function properly instead of opening on a non-running engine.

The "I" terminal is a bad place to steal power with the key in run. The ignition system runs through a ballast resistor (wire in a stock bronco) that reduces power to the ignition system so the points will live. If you take extra power away from the coil by pulling it away on the "I" terminal then you are just making the ignition system less efficient. A good ignition system only does good; more power, better economy, less emissions, etc.

make sure you use a good relay for your fuel pump, the orignal harness is marginal at best. there is no ign. termnal on your starter relay

Thanks for the advice guys.

I guess I may run a wire from the "C" terminal on the ignition switch to a relay near the battery, then feed my choke, fuel pump and 3G altenator from that.

Sound like a good idea?
