I have a complete motor from my '75. I unplugged it from the body wiring harness, but left everything in place. My question is, what would I have to do to run the motor? What wires, to where, and what would need to be connected for my duraspark? I have the coolant and fuel part solved but I have know idea what to do with the wiring. I have the pieces from the old harness I can cut and splice/jumper, if that would be easier? The body will take a little while so I wanted to rebuild my carb and make sure the engine was ready to go when I get it back. Thanks.

First, don't do it on the stand unless you want the engine to come crashing to the ground.
second, there is no way to start it without the transmission. The starter bolts to the transmission bellhousing.

Here is the '75 duraspark wiring. After that you just need starting system wiring.

If you don't have a bell housing available, they do make starter adapters that allow you to start an engine without a transmission.

i am rebuilding and putting a 351w right now. I kind of modified the engine stand to use as a test stand once I get it built. I can still rotate it right now so I can get everything on it before starting. Once I am ready to start I can put on the engine supports on. (Pretty much just have to bolt them on) I still got to do the radiator bracket, gauge and button panel before break in but I will get that done once I finish the build.
