Dana 20 Rebuild Question

I pulled out and disassembled the Dana 20 in my '73 today. I have a NP435 and I removed the tcase at the from the intermediate housing. When I removed the tcase, the input shaft stayed in the intermediate housing and 12 needle bearings fell on my chest. Pictures of the input shaft and needles bearing are attached.

My question is: should I reinstall the needle bearings with assembly lube and try to l reinstall the tcase with the intermediate housing installed......or remove the intermediate housing, mate the tcase and the housing on the bench, then reinstall the tcase/housing to the trans?

I completed the disassembly today. I will look on the garage floor for the another needle bearing.

I would keep disassembling, you need to find the 13th needle bearing.
I've seen more than a few D20s that only had 12. I figure whoever was putting them in didn't know how to install the 13th.

If the 13th is on the floor, it's probably not the end of the world. If the 13th is in the bottom of the case, it's probably the end of the D20.
