Viperwolf, you cannot simply install the J-shift rails and pill into the T-shift tcase?

I haven't been into a Dana 20 yet, but I will soon as I think my shift fork is wearing out (or my shift rail). She keeps popping into neutral even with new spring & detent ball and a 1/8' spacer. Talk about irritating... cruising down the highway at 55 - 60 mph and the dang t-case pops into neutral. Hadn't happened since I've been driving it after the EFI, and I replaced the spring/detent ball, but whammo! - 3 occurances on the way home last night. :p

I have that T-shift sitting there suddenly shooting up my "bronco to-do" priority list. It sure would be easier (and cheaper) if I could just transfer my J-shift rails and twin sticks over to my T-shift while getting the lower gearing benefit. :)

Mark,
I just finished the conversion and everything fit and works fine (on the bench). It'll be a few weeks before I drop it in the bronco. I took some time to set the shaft endplay on the tight side of the spec (.003"). When setting the rear shaft endplay I used a setup bearing at the rear to avoid having to press the shaft out repeatedly. The rear bearing is #15117 and the setup bearing is #15118 which is just a few thousandths larger in the center. You only use the rear pill with the J rails.

One thing I've seen in the past that causes gear popping is a loose shift fork. Make sure to use some loc-tite on the set screws.
