I know the Dana 20 J shift front output shaft uses a different bearing than the T shift version, is the shaft heavier (larger diameter) on the J shift version? I did do a search and it looks like the J version uses an extra spacer to space the yoke out from the bearing.Any other differences on the 2 different version outputs? Thanks.

I don't know how the weight compares between them. I haven't heard of any breakage problems with either though. The J uses 2 special spacers, one under the yoke and one between the bearing and idler gear. The big advantage of the J shaft is the splines don't dig into the yoke and increase bearing clearance over time.

The T shift output shaft has a snap ring groove in the shaft. J model does not. I found that out on my tailgate at Moab my first trip while trying to swap internals from one to the other... by flashlight. Bottlejack and chain for a pressing parts off the shaft...

Don't know if this helps but that is another difference.
