Finding that front end in the 1000-1200 range by itself is a good find these days. Your dad got a smoking deal at 700. Bout the only way I can figure to find them cheap is to luck out & find them in an old beat up rig someone just wants gone with no idea what's in it.

ya i we were lucky both of our axles were already pulled out of the rig so all we had to do was load them up which that is easier said than done lol

Is the front end high pinion? I would think so considering that is all I have encountered on late '70s Ford Trucks. Here in southern California you pay that much for just a dana-60 font end. I paid $150 for my dana-60 rear end which are not too expensive here. I paid $380 for my 1974 dana-44 high pinion, 3.54:1, drum brake off a 1974 F-100. I figure after swaping out the outters for disc brake types I will be into it for 3/4 the cost of a dana 60. I probably should have bout a dana 60. I have no regrets but if I were to do it over again I would want a dana 60 high pinion.

Considering that many people want those axles I'd say the deal is about right. Dont know if I would say its good but its not bad considering.

I would say for getting a matching pair you did fine. It took me 12 years to get my 78/79 HP 60 at a price I wanted to pay.

These are getting really hard to find.
