hey guys, im trying to do some future planning here. the next item on my list to get is a roll cage. it will be raw so i will have to get it powder coated. before i do that i want to weld on whatever type of bracket i need to mount an antenna and a dome light.

ive been digging around on here and searching for some ideas on whart kind of dome light to go with. there has been alot of good functional designs ive seen but none that i thought were too visually appealing. it seems everywhere ive looked shows plenty of strap on lights that im sure are very functional just not what im looking for. there seem to be no shortage of these $100k to $300k broncos out there and i cant believe they have some rigged up dome light in them but that is never the focus of the pics. there has to be a source somewhere. maybe im just looking in the wrong place.

can anyone point me to some attractive looking lights? function would be nice but secondary to appearance.

thanks a bunch!!

https://axiaalloys.com/product/led-dome-light-usb-rechargeable/

Someone in our group bought one of these, now we all have one. I have had it for years and never charged it, pretty crazy.

If I was going the wired route, I would do a KC Hiliites cyclone https://www.kchilites.com/cyclone-v2-cyclone-v2-led-single-light.html

With a mount like this for tube https://dirtdirectoffroad.com/products/kc-cyclone-cage-mount-bezel or this for sheet metal https://eversenperformanceproducts.com/products/kc-cyclone-recessed-bezel

Marine led dome lights work good too.
I just wired them into my dash light switch

I have this on my roll cage, but it was a pain to wire. It matches the radius of my roll cage

This & the NEXT page show how I added courtesy switches:

This shows where I put the dome lights, and the NEXT shows the cargo light:

They're wired essentially like this:

This owner wanted a dome light that would stay in the truck when the top was off, so I welded a small box to the cage & ran the wiring inside.

i thought about going this route too. building a box and mounting something factory looking in it. what are those lights out of?

I installed 1986 F-150 door "A pillar" switches and the interior cab light with map lights, Super simple. now when either door is opened, cab light goes on, close door, light goes off.
Also wired a '86 chimer buzzer. if markers or headlights are on (with engine off) it buzzes if open a door.

Rear view mirror may be an option. Mine has manual switches and is a 1/2 cab. Door jamb switches would be easy to add to control the lights.
