Door hinge shims

Just curious what everyone uses for shims for adjusting the door hinges (between the hinge and door post). I need the top front of the door to move back.

Do I need to worry about them rusting? I have lift off hinges and will end up getting cought in the rain...Just curious, I've never used shims before.

They are zinc coated...should be fine

How much do you need to shim?
I used several layers of HDPE tape on the hinge. No rust. The tape is about .060 thick.

I made my own out of stainless...

I used stainless sheetmetal and made a shim! So I am not concerned about rusty shims!! Good Luck!!

Never had to use shims myself. Amazingly so too, with how these Broncos tend to get tweaked pretty easily.

What aspect are you trying to straighten Tasty Geazer? Anything that might be helped by actually shimming the body instead?
In other words, if the doors aren't squaring up with the openings, maybe a couple of judiciously placed shims on the body mounts would cure it.

I've made shims out of 20 ga. 24 ga. sheet metal and if you want the door to move back I'd only shim under the outer 2 bolts its a teter tator affect,if you want it to move foward them the back bolt only.It also work inside the door,all depends.But as said the body mounts play a big part.
