Search "dual shocks" and be prepared to read. There are tons of threads regarding this setup.

PS RS9000s are crap.

I have had singles for years and really like them. Don't hate. Why do they
suck?. the x10000000000000000000 is what.

A friend of mine has dual RS9000s on his rig up front. It rides pretty nice, but I really think singles would be just fine.

  • They suck because they're Rancho's.
  • They suck because they have junk valving.
  • They suck because they blow out.
  • They suck because they fade.
  • The x10000000000, means that he's in agreement, they suck.
  • Take your "don't hate" juvenile business elsewhere.

If you're wanting better dampening performance, look into better shocks. Bilstein, Fox, King, etc. Adding another crappy shock isn't going to improve your ride performance.

Well, I don't know anything about Ranchos, but I just picked up some killer Napa Response shocks for $25.00 each.;D I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. So don't be hatin' on my Napas!;D

What they're saying is that once you move up to high quality shocks, you'll never go back-Bilstein, fox, sway-away, king, etc.
Most people consider Rancho 9000s to be the best of the cheap shocks, but is that saying much?
Many won't drive an EB w/out dual shocks up front because body roll
skeers em and it does reduce it.

I have dual 9000's up front. I have never run it with singles but from all I have read if I were to do it again I'd save the money and get a single Bilstein.

Scott, is that you? My ol friend from Crestline?

I used to have dual rs5000s and I was happy at the time with the ride. Now I have single bilstein 7100s and BC front spring and I am even more happy with the ride. You are better off getting F250 mounts (welding required) and 7100s but if budget is tight then try duals and lighten the load setting.

I too would recommend a single "high end" shock like a Bilstein 7100. You can get two 7100's for less than four Rs9000's. However the ride from a single RS9000 is not bad at all, I used them for several years before investing in some Bilsteins. The Rs9000's on there firmest position provides much more dampening than needed. If you go the 9000 route just buy two for the front if for some reason you want it to drive like it has no suspension you can always buy two more later.

Another stupid question. Are the Duff shocks better than the rancho?

Not a stupid question. IMO...yes. I think they ride pretty good. I'm using them with my 3.5" Cage suspension & it's a nice ride. I've had 9000s on a previous Bronco & thought they were harsh & choppy...even on a soft suspension.

I'm so sick of all the bad attitudes about repeat questions......if it's a repeat and it annoys you so bad, don't respond, it's that easy

After going to the dunes last weekend, I almost think dual shocks at least in the front would be better.
