Easy way to remove column shifter

I am in the process of removing the dash on my Bronco which has a 3 speed manual tranny. I have the steering wheel off, is there a trick or easy way to remove the shift lever so I can slide the dash past ? Or does the shift collar and handle need to be removed as one piece ? Most videos I have seen on removing the dash (Nashville and Matt's) were on automatic Broncos.
Thanks
Tony

Should be a roll pin you can drive out to separate the lever from the column.

Use a punch that is specifically made for roll pins. Some can be not too much fun to remove. Push it whatever direction is easiest.
