EFI fuel system help

OK guys, I am at another part of my build where I need your expertise. I have a 96' 351 Windsor efi and I am sure that the fuel system was not 100% accurate when I got it, more specifically the tank venting. I have the 23 gallon aftermarket tank that had two lines going to the existing vapor canister and one line that just went mid way under the bed and was stopped up by dirt.

I was thinking about getting a different canister and mounting it to the firewall then connecting the tank to the canister, the canister to the purge valve that is laying on the intake (not used), and the purge valve to an available port on the upper intake. Hopefully I am on the right track so far, but I have two lines from my tank that connected to the old canister. Do I need them both to connect to the new canister? Am I missing something? Thanks for the help.

The EFI systems used a purge solenoid that was not always active. Hooking the canister up directly to the intake will cause a vacuum leak ??

I don't run a canister with my efi. I just run a gas cap that vents with stock tank. I have the old canister from the donor van. Had plans to use it but things work so well without it I never put it on.

I had not even thought about a vented gas cap. You say your setup works well, do you have any issues with strong fuel vapors? Did you just cap off the two fuel lines that went to your old canister?

Sad to say my rig sits outside.....Too many toys....The Mustangs get the indoor treatment. So I've never noticed a smell of gas but it's outside. I've had it in my shop for winter projects over the years and have never noticed a smell.

My 74 emissions was LONG GONE when I bought it. No canister or expansion tank. My stock tank is one from an earlier year so no emission lines to block off. If I had them....yes I would block them off.

Might give it a try and see how it works for you.......
