I wonder if the complete package with lipo batteries is lighter that our old iron V8s

If they were smart, they would have considered the attachment of a transfercase as well. It would have expanded their market considerably.

Check out ElectricGT.com They have complete kits for various vehicles including the Early Bronco. A little pricey - About 60K.

V8 small block configuration with Motors, batteries, charger, controller all in one. Very cool!

This would install in front of your manual transmission with a custom Bell Housing. Rest of the drivetrain is stock, if it can handle the power.

No need to go through a bellhousing and manual transmission when this system doesn’t require shifting gears at all. At that point you create a custom adapter to the transfer case. But that is exactly my point - they should have made their gearbox with a standard output attachment configuration to allow either a transfer case adapter or the output shaft as they have here. Much cleaner than that a divorced setup or cobbled adapters.

The Manual transmission is Electric GTs recommendation not mine.

Seriously, where do you put the batteries? Can't really put them in the engine bay, front end gets to heavy. Put them in the back, lose precious cargo space. Tow a trailer with batteries? Maybe where the unused gas tank was?

With the Electric GT, the Batteries are in the "V8" block as well. You can add additional batteries for extended Range where the original fuel tank was.

You put them in a hazardous waste bin after 5 to 6 years
