Companies sell cable operated cutouts... Thank god MN isn't concerned about exhaust DB's... well, stillwater is...
Does anyone have a single 3" setup with headers? I"m interested in going that route to avoid having the drivers side pipe hanging below the frame...
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
The info and pics were exactly what I was after!
At any point - does your exhaust ever drop below the frame rails up front? I'm trying to avoid that...
This is the PO in my '69 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9kmztQ4CHs
Skip to about 40 seconds in to the vid... ignore the hollering... at the end he rev's it up and you can hear the vroom.
I believe it is still carb in this vid, however now it is EFI.
Old James Duff long headers in to glass packs, duals out each side, no crossover pipe.
I've done a tonne of work on it since this vid - but it still sounds the same. Intially, I wanted something quieter - but now I love it, and my kids love it, so to hell with anyone who thinks it's too loud.
Actually, it idles quiet and calmly - but when you get on the skinny, everyone around knows you're getting on it.
It seems like exhaust systems comes up quite often, and one of the main questions people have is 'how does it sound'? I think it would be awesome if you guys with various exhaust systems could post either a wave file, or a youtube link of just how these different systems sound.
I know personally I'm most interested in hearing the complete BCB system, at idle, cruise, and WOT.
I think this would help solve a lot of questions...
So please post up.
I agree, most all of the sound energy (90% ) is below 100hz. Most microphones on cameras and such are filtered above that for wind & machinery noise reduction. recording would have to be done with the proper equipment.
here at my work I reconstructed a car (minus engine and wheels) in an office and filled it with speakers & subwoofers to recreate road and car noise for testing purposes. The big rig diesel recordings are pretty cool. they shake the whole building.
