Yesterday I completed installing the explorer serpentine belt front dress on my '67 with the original 289. Thank you to everyone here for the great technical write-ups especially the tech archive (http://classicbroncos.com/tech/explorer-5-0-serpentine-accessory-drive-belt-conversion). One thing that I never found was a complete list of parts, costs, and sources. I thought it might help others if I posted my parts list.

The entire thing went in without issue and it really makes a big difference in the underhood noise level. Now I no longer feel like the accessories are waiting to fail.

If I had one key piece of advice... if you are buying a "complete" explorer front dress from someone be sure you get pictures and a list of included parts. The "complete" setup that I purchased from a member on here turned out to be far from complete. It was missing the discontinued water pump pulley and power steering reservoir, the upper idler pulley, the tensioner, and the timing chain cover was damaged... but it was "complete"... live and learn.

Here is the parts list that I used:

I should add that a lot of these parts are available from different sources and I tried to support our sponsors whenever possible. The crews at Wild Horses and BCB were both great to work with.

Avoid the extra headaches I had sourcing parts and just get yours from sanndmann3. I thought I would save a few dollars and ended up spending more money and time buying a "complete" (cough cough) kit from another member who I won't name but really should.

I couldn't agree more! He isn't much more than my local yard charges and the parts look new! It also saves on bloody knuckles and cuss words.

I realized that the list is missing the upper radiator hose. I got mine from BCB but the invoice doesn't have a part number and it isn't listed on their website. I asked for it when I called in an order but I'm not sure if they stock them or make them to order.

I got mine from sanndmann3 and it was great. My problem was a broken bolt. Since I wanted everything to match, I went ahead and ordered all ARP bolts. Since there isn't a kit from ARP for this, here are the bolt sizes, quantities, and ARP part numbers you need for this setup. What I did not write down, was what each bolt is for, sorry.:-[

4 x 5/16-18 Hex Black O.T.V.C Bolt (H3AG3.250-5CL)
2 x 5/16-18X4.00 Hex Bolt (H3AG4.000-5.CL)
1 x 5/16-18X4.250 Hex Bolt (H3AG4.250-5CL)
2 x 5/16-18 Hex O.T.V.C Bolt (H3AG1.250-5CL)
1 x 5/16-18X2.250 Hex Bolt (H3AG2.250-5CL)
2 x 5/16-18X2.00 Hex Bolt (H3AG2.000-5CL)
2 x 5/16-18X1.750 Hex Bolt (H3AG1.750-5CL)
14 x 5/16 ID Chamfer Washers (AGW58)

I also ordered the bell housing kit (154-0901). This entire order, including shipping, was $66.62.

Curious which AC kit you used. Was it the BC Broncos Vintage Air Gen II kit specifically for the Explorer setup found here https://bcbroncos.com/shop/interior...plorer-serpentine-belt-for-early-ford-bronco/

swmrdrn, this is such a good list that you should add it as comment on the tech article. That way this information will be preserved in one place the next time someone goes looking for parts for the ex-serp conversion. Good job.

My bronco already had the Vintage Air Gen IV kit installed before I decided to go to the Explorer Serpentine system. The stock explorer system uses an FS10 compressor and the BCB & Vintage Air systems use a Sandan Compressor. The BCB kit appears to adopt the Sandan compressor to the Explorer mount. The FS10 compressor is compatible with the Vintage Air system. My hoses had just enough slack in them that I didn't have to rework them. The nice thing is that it is a factory install. The only thing you need is the $50 hose block that Vintage Air sells which allows you to attach their hoses to the FS10 compressor.

What I do like about the BCB kit you linked to is that you get to keep your full-size glovebox and it appears to use nice firewall fittings to route the hoses. The Vintage Air System sends the houses to go through the passenger side vent box which looks like crap.

Thanks for the info. The BCB kit is a customized Gen II Vintage Air kit. There currently backordered on the bracket to mound the Sandan compressor so I'm thinking I'll order it without the compressor and try to mate it with the explorer compressor using the block you linked. I think it will work but I may need to find a place to make custom hoses if needed.

Nice detailed write up. Since Im using the American Wire Harness, and it states I need to use a one wire Alternator....

This wont work right??
Alternator Ford# 4G7Z10346AARM2 DB Electrical AFD0045 $87 https://www.amazon.com/DB-Electrical...5:2470955011

I'm not familar with the AAW harness and I don't know if a 4G Alt can be converted to a true 1 wire. The 4G needs a signal to get it started. I just followed the diagram from the tech article on here and utilized the green/red 904 wire. I would think that you could pull your ignition trigger straight off the stater relay. Perhaps another more knowlegable member can chime in on this.
