Explorer oil pan

I bought a '74 Bronco about 6 months ago and the fellow I bought it from admitted it had a moderate oil leak. I finally bit the bullet and tore the motor down to the
timing chain. It became perfectly obvious where the oil leak was - Someone had put a cast aluminum oil pan (F67E 6675 HC 1996?) on the motor and either didn't notice the flat
rubber seal on the cover can't mate properly with the pan that has a raised groove or just hoped for the best and just mashed it in. This also caused the balancer seal to not seal right.
Has anyone else encountered this? I was considering all possible fixes including filing the groove on the pan flat, ditching the pan for a proper steel pan or perhaps I need a late 90's
timing cover that would match (but would it bolt up the same?) I understand using the Explorer pan is done by many people, but what is the fix?

Can’t say I know what all the differences are in gasket profile, but a cast aluminum pan was one of those used in Explorers. I’m not sure which explorers got cast aluminum in which got stamped steel, but I’ve seen them with cast aluminum.
So there must be a proper gasket I would think.
