Fantastic! Great report too.
So all that, and more room at the radiator as well! Nice.

I bet the fan is quieter by design, but for a fact a clutch fan even of the same design as a non-clutch fan is usually expected to be slightly quieter at least.

Sounds like you're in business.

Just read the second page. I would try to check the pressure switch before just tossing the whole compressor.
If you have power to the connector, did you try jumping one to the other?
If jumping the two wires fires off the clutch, then you only have a bad pressure switch.

Thank you Paul.

The BC/VA system has the pressure switch at the top of the drier. A verified 12 volt signal is confirmed at the compressor plug.
Can't figure it out...its a new not rebuilt Visteon compressor. It should be fine....sigh...
All the other stuff is great. I can't believe how fantastic the Old Explorer ps pump turns my 35's.

But it's a 2-wire plug, right? If so, did you try jumpering the two together, to see if the compressor would engage?

Paul

I gave them both power at the same time but not necessarily attached together....

Frustrating because I have been able to use the hose adapter and keep my BC a/c hoses. So it has been a bolt on thus far. No R134 leaks. Clutch just will not engage.

I have never had power steering this smooth and powerful. My Saginaw was never this good much less the oem Thompson.
Turn on all my darn accessories and the alt gauge barely moves, yea!

Sat in central Florida traffic for 20 minutes.
The "feels like temp" is 99 to 104 degrees. In my experience its at least 10 to 15 degrees hotter on the asphalt.
She never went over 192.
Hehehehe....before this mod my eb never boiled over or traumatically overheated but its Achilles heel was idling in traffic.
She would hit 240+ degrees and keep climbing. Not now though, hehehe....
Yea!
Finally!

Been chasing the BTU God's for 25 GD years. Finally struck their ass down.

I almost forgot that I still have not added the ring to my fan shroud to fully encapsulate the fan to the proper depth (1/3 to 1/2). And yet it still works this good under these conditions.

Still can't get my new a/c compressor clutch to click the compressor on though.....

But I want to say without hesitation this may be my favorite mod.
And I have been modifying my eb for 35 years, my previous favorite mod was twin sticks.

My favorite mods are not always that expensive. Twin sticks are very affordable. Bang for the buck is huge!

The Explorer Swap is not necessarily cheap but you can do it in stages like I did. Took me a year or so to get everything I needed.
But this is my new favorite mod.

If you were considering this swap do not hesitate!

So tell us Steve
Do you like the explorer serp mod;)
Glad it's working well for you. Hope you get that AC figured out. It was hot as heck up here today.

It was dangerously hot here today Bud.

This mod is better than I expected in every way.
Absolutely love it.
To any of our eb brothers contemplating this don't put it off for years like I did....just do it....it is awesome.

The a/c thing is perplexing...
Clutch has power to it. Case is well grounded. Damn clutch won't engage to spin the compressor....
Everything else is super good, lovin' it.

Is this a new never used compressor. If so it may be internal. I'm not an AC "guy" but my understanding is the clutch works kind of like a starter. If it has power and freon pressure it will engauge. You said it has the correct freon pressure and you are putting jumped power right to it. It would almost have to be the unit itself.

Just had another thought. Is the AC compressor getting a good ground. maybe try a direct ground if it's grounding through the bracketry

My sentiments exactly....

This damn thing should work fine....

Easy to still be happy for now, everything else is so awesome.

Until I figure that out I can start working on my ring for my shroud.

Try Checking the coil at the plug with a olm meter to make sure it’s not open. It may have a coil for a 24V big truck on it

Wish I could update this with good news.
Not real good with the ohm meter but if I put 12 volts to either plug the other plug/contact on the compressor clutch has 12 volts.
So it's like they are just connected....

It was ordered as a compressor for a '98 Explorer I am assuming (not good I know lol) its 12 volt.

Steve. The alt guage wont move unless you changed it to a volt meter. Something about the expy alternator wont let it read the amps. You must us the wild horses volt guage conversion.

Try 12V to one side of coil plug direct from battery and a ground wire to other side of the coil plug it should click and engage.

I wanted to do that but I get 12 volts output on one when I put 12 volts on the other.

At this point I am happy to experiment Hoss.
