Thanks you know I've looked at the article probably 50 times and forgot about the shroud mod.

Found a hopeful part, AC Delco 15-40144, right bolt pattern, just beyond 1 inch added. 2009 GMC Envoy with 4,2 non electric clutch. More tomorrow.

Problem of to little fan inside shroud fixed.

I'm using the WH aluminum shroud for stock radiator which is about 3 inches deep.

I picked up a NAPa branded fan for a 2009 GMC Envoy 4.2 liter non electric fan clutch.
Part number 2851. ACDelco part number 15-40144.

Bolts right up to larger metal fan of explorer blade. Increases height just over 1 inch from stock explorer clutch.

Fan now sits just under 2 inches from radiator on top and just over 1 inch at bottom, with clutch sitting 1 inch from core. Fan sits inside shroud with just under 3/4 sticking out back of top, and 1/4 sticking out back of bottom.

Job done, thanks CB folks! No mod required to shroud.

I'd show pics but i guess we cant download nor photobucket them anymore. My photos of the two clutches would look just like viperwolfs above

As an aside, I called 4 Seasons and they were helpful, the Envoy clutch is as heavy duty as the explorer clutch and will run at 80-90% of engine RPM fully locked up. The plastic fan blades use a clutch which is only locking up to 50-70% of engine RPM. So those of you using the plastic fan and smaller diameter mounting circle of the plastic fan clutch might be losing some airflow.

I was just wondering which fan I used 3 years ago, now i know.:)Most important info is actually the two versions of van clutches, one heavy duty and one passenger, only locking up just over 50%.

I did this yesterday, worked perfectly, moved my fan into the Half Shroud I have from Champion Cooling on my Serpentine Front Dress. Very pleased with placement. Thanks guys for the info. Hard to see, but it moved a good inch inwards.

Looks like a great install. And a true "selfie-ready shroud" if I've ever seen one!
That thing is polished up like chrome for sure. Or is it chrome?

I am sure everyone has it figured it out by now. But here is my input my way.

Viperwolf post explains the differences. Some clutches have different length snout.
The solution:
1) get a longer snout clutch.
2) extend the shroud to where you want it
Or do both
For my solution I found it difficult to sort out different clutches, so I extended the shroud, used a Hayden extreme duty clutch and an explorer 11 blade fan. I wanted more airflow so my decision was easy. The Ford fan really moves air.
