Fabled Dana 30/44 Hybrid

Never mind on the 2263. That is a BRAKE tube. So the axle assembly came
on the upper right hand side of the special equipment parts list it has special order no. 71-0030
That makes sense, because Long Beach is within the Los Angeles District Sales Office (71) and the build sheet identifies the BOM for Dealer Special Order (0300)

...but I was guessing that your glovebox data plate said "710030"

I'm sure that someone at Ford thought it was pretty clever to use the same TLA for Sales Office, and Special Order. You should see the DSO build sheet for my Shelby. It is about 7 pages long. I'll try to link it...

Utterly irrelevant to this thread, but hahahahahaha!! "TLA" brings back some memories. "TRW" is another, but I can't share that one in mixed company.

Just wanted to add something to the conversation.

Back in the day before Dana 44s were plentiful and even affordable, a lot of Bronco, Jeep and Scout owners would build their own "hybrid" D44 axles. From what I remember, Bronco guys would source a Dana 44 from a Studebaker (in the late 60's early 70's these were still in the junk yards). They would remove the center section, then install the Dana 30 axle tubes, axles. The side gears for the Dana 30 would fit the Studebaker D44 carrier and mate with the diff gears. I don't know if that was unique, but I believe they used the Studebaker D44 for this reason.

If I remember my Dana history, those Studebakers used a coarse spline axle, something like a 6 or 10 spline. Nobody wanted them as they were the weak version of the axle. Might be weak because it was using Dana 30 sized side gears more than the number of splines.

Pre 74 Jeep J trucks front D44 axles came with a carrier that used D30 side gears. That carrier fits any D44. So it is not a far fetch to make parts all work.
