Just wondering if these welds on my Driver side inner fender were done at the factory or my PO. has anyone seen this before in their engine compartment. Burn through on the welds.

Thanks
Z

The frame welds are well known for looking like crap. But that looks like a home MIG welder turned up a little too high.

Agree a PO "modification" was done. But having said that, it's interesting that I think my '71 driver's wheel well (on the top) had a couple of odd shaped holes that defied definition too.
Too odd to be a drill hole, and not punched. I always thought it was where a stud was attached for the jack (similar to the one you have in the pic for the jack handle?) and did not think much more of it.
Never even thought of burn-through! But since it's not near a joint or component mounting point, I didn't think much of it, other than the missing stud theory.
I'll have to go compare to some others now.

Makes me hanker for the next get-together when 8 or 10 of us can hang out under a hood, compare notes and make rude comments about other Broncos!

Haa I think the guy that welder parts of my frame had a sand which in one hand welder in the other I have two places where the welding wire is hanging off the weld. I kept it there

Looks like a piece of mig wire in the upper right around that screw.

I have a randomly place mig wire on the top of my cowl, so who knows. The factory appeared to be sloppy.

Yeah, I've got welding wire on my front crossmember and I've seen it there on a lot of rigs. I wonder if they were starting off with some automated machines in that area?

And boy, is that some heavy wire! I wonder what size it is? Memory tells me it could be .060 inch!
Hmm, maybe they were using a stick welder!;D

Could have been Paul. My 69 had wire there, and this weekend I was cleaning up another 69 frame for my brother, and it had wire there too.

Mine had mig wire in the driver door jamb area. Where the rocker is welded to the hinge pillar and the striker pillar. Also there the cowl welds to the top of the hinge pillar. There was also mig wire between the lower quarter panel and the tail light housing on the funky diagonal brace below the bed floor. This is all on driver side, have not gotten to passenger side yet lol.
