Fighting the steering

I previously posted that I installed a new hydroboost unit with a dual return Saginaw pump and rebuilt my steering column.

I have burped the system as per the instructions and even did additional cycles. I have also tried another technique and still feels the same like having to fight the steering wheel while driving, doesnt feel smooth.

I am just thinking outloud;

When there is no load on the front (tire s off the ground) it feels like the steering wheel turns back and forth smooth. When the tires are on the ground and the truck is on and in park, the steering feels smooth but when you put it in drive feels like it gets tight again and doesn't turn smooth. It's hard to describe,
Does this make sense?

Again, thinking outloud, could it be a bad steering pump? Could it be a bad hydroboost unit?

Has anyone else had these symptoms after installing a new hydroboost unit and rebuilt column?

I also installed a new H block (drum/drum) , could an issue with the h block contribute to these symptoms? Doesn't seem like it makes sense but just thought I would mention it.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time/help,

Sonny

When you're idling in Drive and it's hard to steer, what does revving the engine up slightly do for the feel? Say, 1500, then 2,000 rpm or so.
And how does it feel while actually driving?

Also, on a side, but still related note, what is your caster setting?

The delphi dual return power steering pump - brand new.

Not sure what the caster is, but I had a Bronco shop replace my c bushings so I hope it's right.

When driving it feels like the steering is binding up and hard to turn . I hope I am doing a good job trying to describe it, I even took it to my friends house to have him drive it, he even said it doesn't feel right.

Still sounds like a bad pump...lower rpm while in drive and difficult to turn. I had a power steering pump bad outta the box, pushed pressure out the return line.

Looks like all the lines are run right and nothing funnyI would lean toward pump. If you put the return line (low pressure) pointed into a bucket have someone start the truck. You should get a solid stream of fluid and when they turn the wheel it will really move some fluid. Be careful it does not knock the container out of position and spray all over the place! Also PS fluid is flammable avoid your headers.

Low volume or really low pressure I would suspect the pump too.

Not seeing any PS cooling.. Mine would act similar high temps. Also once my fluid was "cooked" the viscosity was off and it acted like I had a bad pump.
