Anyone out there running a Fitech on a stock 351? Mind sharing your cold start setup with me? I’m having trouble with cold start and warmup. Stumbling, popping and just poor fast idle. Once up to 170-180 runs great. I’ve tried several settings from one end to the other and just can’t get satisfied with the warmup. I have GT 40P heads, short headers, and what was described as an RV cam. I built the engine basically stock except for the heads. Not sure that any of that matters but just mentioned it just in case.

Also runs great cold with the 1406 edelbrock I had on it before the Fitech.

Not a 351, but mine was giving me major fits with my points distributor. I ended up installing a Duraspark and it cleared up the issues since ignition was feeding it correct values.

Sorry, running Duraspark also. Like I mentioned it ran good with a carb so couldn’t completely rule ignition out, but maybe?

I'd have to check what mine has for cold settings. I honestly don't know how good the cold start is, as I don't drive it in the cold (below around 50). That said, I don't know what your level of "cold" is. It does start and run fine when I do use it. I'm running a bone stock 351W with duraspark. I did adjust the IAC per the procedure.

I'd go look right now, but its late, the truck is covered for winter, and its like 5 degrees out.

I did have to fix the nipple on the map sensor that was too long and folded over on itself. It was easy to see the vacuum reading wasn't changing for that one.

Thanks, the temp I’m discussing is just a cold start of the engine itself. Regardless of outside temp it just doesn’t run good until 170 or above. I’ll check the map sensor too.

24 deg. in the garage tonight. She cranks and fired right up and idled. Here is what I read on the hand-held under Crank and Warm Up:

01 Prime Fuel Mult: 263
02 Crank Fuel 20F: 39.8
03 Crank Fuel 65F: 19.5
04 Crank Fuel 170F: -10.2
05 Crank IAC: 119.5

Everything else below that is 0.0

Just in case, I also have the Accel pump page numbers: All 0.0 %
01 Accel Pump 20F: 0.0 ...

First chance I’ve had to try these numbers. Coolant temp 45 degrees on the display, cranked about 1/2 second and fired up and idled smoothly through warmup. Thanks!
