Fitech with Timing Control

Many years into the restoration finally installed the engine back in and plan on installing the Fitech ( I purchase a while ago) and integrating the wiring with my new Centech wiring harness

The plan was to install the old distributor to get it running and then switch over to MSD 2 wire distributor which I purchased used and is already locked out.

Using the old distributor I would need to install the coil ballast resistor and wire it thru the Starter Solenoid I terminal.

My question and the way I understand it if go directly to the MSD Distributor with Fitech timing control I would be able to limit all the extra wiring with the ballast resistor and SI.

The coil and distributor would be wired direct to the Fitech per the attached schematic. Eliminating all the extra wiring.

Thanks in advance
Chris

I have my FiTech controlling timing. You are correct no additional wiring. Just plug the connector from the FiTech into the connector from the distributor. Then with a timing light adjust your timing till it matches what your handheld reads. Lock it down and your good. There are detailed instructions from FiTech.

What is the old distributor? Depending on what it is and what coil you use you might not need all the resistor wiring.
That said, nothing wrong with just going straight to the new MSD unit either, as long as it works!

Since yours is an older FiTech, have you read the discussions about the coolant temp sensor reading off? If not it's worth checking out since that was causing all kinds of mischief when up and running.
