Flashers/cluster blinkers don't work

Hello all,

This one has puzzled both myself and my electrician. Blinkers work on the outsides (sometimes one does not work in the front), but do not flash in the gauge cluster (they used to work, then sometimes randomly, now nothing). I put new flashers, bulbs, and fuses in, did not change anything.

The emergency flashers (the switch is new) are even worse and do not show up on the cluster nor the outside! They used to work with the turn signal switch on, or they would just show a constant on, but now nothing, But when a hot wire is placed on the fuse, it works normally...

Everything used to be in tip-top shape but it of course cannot be like that forever! I already tried cleaning the fuse contacts and back of the fuse panel, had no success. If anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I agree with DuctTape, sounds like a grounding issue. The light bulb sockets need to be cleaned as they ground to the guage cluster which is grounded to the dash. I had similar issues and found the guage cluster was not grounded properly (rusty screws).

I forgot about bulb sockets but agree check that too. I had to clean mine out too as well as run a ground jumper to the bucket. You can diagnose the latter with an alligator clip jumper but the former isn't as obvious. The new buckets I bought had paint in the bulb socket.

Yes the grounds seem to be fine. Any particular grounds that I should look out for?

I'll check those out! Weird because they always worked, then sporadically, now not at all. I'm just wondering how that is not allowing the emergency flashers to work but the turn signals work on the outside...??

Hazards and turn signals are completely separate circuits on the power side. Check the hazard fuse and hazard flasher.

I changed both the fuse (and cleaned the contacts) and the flasher. If it were a ground, where should I look?

It's not a ground or the other lights wouldn't be working. See where you do and don't have 12v.
