I found the bracket that came with the Hurst kit to be kind of inadequate. Instead of mounting the switch using it, and have the switch exposed to rain/mud/sand/etc. I just mounted a switch on the dash so I can use it only when I need it.
I bought a plunger style momentary on switch and mounted it in an "L" bracket which I screwed to the body support member. It was set so that it was activated when the reverse lever on the shifter was in the rear position. Worked fine but I never ran it off road to know if it would be water/crud proof over time. I am putting a NP435 in now so problem eliminated.
I am looking for some type of bracket as well that would mount to help engage the stock switch when put in reverse. I'll have to get underneath too and see what the possibilities are.
Hurst makes several reverse light setups, here is one. The switch does look a little cheap, but you could find a similar weatherproof switch and make a similar bracket.
