Is it easier to sell a bare frame, title and Vin # as a packaged deal or .....title and Vin together and seperate price for the frame? Also have the glovebox door to go with the 1974 frame.

Also what is the going price for these items in the Northeast area? I have idea of what I should ask for but couldn't hurt to ask some pros. Thanks in advance.

If you have all three, I'd sell them as a package with the VIN plate attached to the GB door. If the plate had been removed already, the door itself is only worth $10-$20 if they need it.

Of course, you will likely only get people who can pick it up, since most will not want to ship the frame.

Price for the title and VIN for a 74 (pre-smog) could go anywhere from $200-$400. The price of the frame really depends on condition. If it is rotted beyond reasonable repair, it is not worth much at all. If it is super clean, $400+. If rotted beyond reasonable repair, I'd cut out a one foot section of the frame where the VIN is stamped and sell it with that piece so it could be shipped.

That will give someone a piece to show they had the frame as well in case there were ever a question with registration, or if they are good enough, they could cut out the portion with the VIN and flush patch it into their good frame and it would not be detectable that it was a different frame.

Hey, thanks for the response, you are the Guru of the East Coast Broncitis. I will eventually need one of your retro pinstriping later on in my build. How far is your shop from NYC?

Vin plate is attached to the glove box and frame is painted with POR-15 and in good shape. The pricing you gave seems spot on. And good info on cutting of the frame VIN.

I have sold the tub already to MikeyFord, a member on here. Then its on to selling a truck load of small parts after the tub sale. Thanks again.

Thanks, I've been playing with these for a good wile now, but I'm still not sure about the Guru part since I'm still learning stuff about these old Broncos all the time!;D

I'm about 200 miles from NYC. We stock the Ranger stripe kit decals since they need to be screen printed in batches, but make all others to order.

Good luck with your the sales.

From my experience you start to get into legal issues when removing VINs from a frame. I questioned that here in SC at our DMV and they said any removal of VIN stamp to be put on another/ better frame is illegal. To me EBs are very easy to chop up and sell. The GB VIN plate and door plate are just that, pieces that can easily moved from bronco to bronco. Those are not the official VINs, only the stamped VIN on the frame. But my experience is in SC, other states have their own standards. I can buy a bronco registered in SC and they don't care about viewing the stamped VIN on the frame. But a bronco registered in GA or other state they have to see the damn VIN on the frame. They told me that if it looks like VIN was welded on the frame they would not accept it and refuse registering it. Keep in mind EBs have two, maybe three VIN stamps on the frame. So make sure they all match bc that is a whole nother can o worms with your DMV! Locate your stamped VIN, use a wire wheel to clean up stamp and make sure it matches your Title. I'd be willing to pay $300-$500 for all three VINs depending on the frame's condition. Take pictures and post them on here, they tend to help in selling stuff. Posted a pic of where your VIN stamps should be.
Good luck! Matt
