I'm ready to buy my Cage 3.5 lift, I found a guy that is local and stocks all the components. My question is should I get the dual shock hoops in the front? If not is there a better set up. BTW Im getting the radius arms also.
Any info much appreciated. I will try to get some picts up asap.

Most guys recommend the f-250 mount and a single bilstien anymore. It doesn't look as cool but saves a few $$ to spend on other parts.

Those Bilstien shocks are pretty spendy arent they? The cage hoops and extra shocks are about $250 more. I just dont want to buy the cage hoops and duals and find out they dont work as good as something else cheaper. Where would I get the F250 mounts other than a junk yard?

It will be a trail rig, but street legal. I will probably cruz around a bit on road, but mostly off road. I want a good all around suspension, with good flex. Not to concerned with highway handling.

I had duals on the front when I bought it. The lower front mounts interferred with my tie rod so I cut them off. A single is fine unless you're doing some high speed washboard or baja racing. It all depends on what you want the truck to do.

A single decent shock in the front should be sufficient for your needs. Duels can an do ride like a brick if not valved for duels. I run single James Duff 70/30's all around on mine and I'm happy enough with them. I do mostly mud running so I didn't want to spend big $$ on shocks as the mud tears them up in a few years anyway. The JD units were like $37 each.

Another F-250 recommendation... Those and a pair of bilstein 7100 non-reservoirs will cost you about the same as the hoops and duals and net a far superior ride. Plus sides are the shocks are rebuildable and have a resale value. Go to www.raceshock.com and give him your info and he will set you up with a good price, may even have some rebuilt units for a better price. Mention Classicbroncos and get a discount also. But do your homework and and be sure to get the right length... Front valving should be 360/80 and the rear (if/when needed) 255/70.

I run duals up front with the Duff hoops and long arms. I havent driven it on the street yet, but i can rock the Bronco from side to side and it sways like crazy just driving it down the block. Thats with 1 Duff shock, and 1 Rancho 9000 on its softest setting.

Slightly off this topic, I have a 73 with dual front shocks, it looks like they came that way from Ford, true?

I have the cage arms, cage dual shock mounts with BC coils springs which are supposed to be slightly stiffer than the cage coils. The cage long arms and dual shocks have a plush ride. I would agree with running a single shock if you are mainly offroad and particularly if you have stock radius arms. However if you are running the Cage arms and cage coils on the road much you are going to want duals or a much stiffer coil up front. My truck has crazy sway when driving on the road with the duals and long arms.

What I find rather funny about the vendors selling the soft coils and or long arms or both is that several of they run a sway bar but do not mention this to the public nor do they sell one on their site.

Correct valving will help with long arms-flexy coils. Single Bilstein will work great and adding a Remote res is a good option as it will give you the ability to go to a short body long travel setup....12" body with 14" of travel.

If I can help with selection of Bilsteins PM me.

Do your front springs have an airbag looking thing stuck inside the coils as well??

Nope, no air bag, just Ford looking OEM dual front shock tower with yellow shocks, maybe monroe? There is a strut along the lower part of the front axle, back in the day hese were bolted on to add strength. No extra welding joints or cuts that I can see. So did they come stock with four front shocks?
