I’m planning a pair of custom 609 axles for my ‘72 Bronco, and I was originally expecting to go with the 69-1/4” WMS dimension of the old Ford kingpin Dana 60s, but I’m now entertaining other options for the WMS dimension. I’m planning on running 40x13.50 tires. I’d be interested to know what WMS/tire combination other people are running. Also, if you’re able to post a photo, that would help as well. Thank you!

08 super duty axles, and 40s for me. I believe they’re 73” wms. Still working on it so no pictures yet but I have a build thread going here.

closest I could find to show the width. Running 37’s 17x8 with 4.5” of back spacing. 69” WMS and 81-1/2” wide outside to outside. Slightly less than 50% of the tread sticks out past the fenders without flares.

Thanks. I think I’ve seen 72” in a number of places for those. Either way, these are the axle that really got me rethinking my axle dimensions. I’d love to see those pictures when you’re done.

That’s a nice looking Bronco! The wheel dimensions are helpful as well.

Your welcome. Rim dimensions are very critical to overall width. Especially when you look at the idea a full width f150 D44 is 65” wide, add on some 10” wide 3-1/2” backspace wheels and your now 83”ish wide to the outside if the tire.
