Fuse box or other recommendations for new radio power

I am going to install a new radio and amp in the console. Should I simply run the hot straight to the battery with an in-line fuse or find a switched outlet under th dash? The only diagram I've seen of fuses is small five bank fuse block that's supposed to be near the glove box. Is there another one under the dash near the E brake that should have an open switched site? The Bronc is in CO and I am in TX for the next week, but want to get this done as soon as I get back up there.

Also, anyone know where I can find a good replacement faceplate to fill the spot on the dash with a dummy? The metal on mine is all pitted.

Thx. 1974 Sport. No AC.

Probably need something in the range of 30 amps for the AMP. Id run a new power line(probably 10ga wire) from the battery with its own fuze for the amp. The stereo should have both switched and hot all the time. So for swtiched Id resue the stock stereo power wire and just tie into the hot wire for the amp for the constant hot for the stereo.

Start with a good MAXI fuse holder near the starter relay (C211) feeding a heavy (~12-6ga) power wire, AND a good ground wire (if you don't already have one). Run both to the console area, and put 2 rings on the ground (for the amp & body) like this:

Bring the power wire to a fuse/relay block similar to this:

.

The stock '92-96 F/Bronco underhood box is also very handy, but possibly larger than you need.

If you need any key-switched feeds over a couple of amps, use the factory ig.sw. to trigger a new relay; that being fed by a new fuse sized for the wire & load. Refer to the radio & amp spec sheets to find each one's maximum current, and use a fuse that size, or barely larger. Same for the UNswitched feeds, but those won't need relays.
