Grounding straps

I have a grounding strap from my battery to the post that holds my 4G explorer alternator. I found this threaded hole on the block, passenger side, directly behind the explorer alternator bracket. Plan is to add a strap from block to frame.
Thoughts? Overkill?

Thx

It will help your starter out, since its bolted to the block.

Go to the junk yard and look at police cruisers. They have grounding straps all over. The trunk lid and hood usually have 2 each and there are more than one from the engine to body and more from the frame to body. If that's not over kill, Bronco Billy's are no where close to over kill. I think all the grounding straps and several condensers are to reduce mobile radio "noise". But it can't hurt on any vehicle.

not over kill at all, minimum you need battery negative to the body, engine block, high amp alternator and the frame I would add another one from the frame to the back of the tub as the taillights seem to be the most problematic area. I like one from the body to the engine right out back on the fire wall. and carry it to the dash. Ground connection to the base of the starter relay and the base of the firewall mounted voltage regulator if you have one are very important grounds if you want to keep things working properly.

MY Old 1980 BRONCO ..Did not like to start for years after I got it.
I added a Battery cable from starter bolt to frame .. Another Battery cable with eyelets on both ends. from starter up to the mount on my alternator .
Made 2 eyelet straps from hood down to body. & The from the Head lamp ground hole over to the Battery grounds. Those too were just maybe 10 gauge stranded wire & Eyelet ends.
.........
....Everything worked much better . My Head lights& my starting & charging.

That was done for EMI early in EFI they would key the radio and the car would run funny.

The many grounding straps were put in police vehicles in the '60s. Long before EFI. Fire trucks and ambulances got the same treatment. The common feature is the mobile radios. I'm sure it helped many other electronic devices too.

That's exactly where my negative battery cable goes. Then I ran a cable from there to the back of my 3G.
