The new gauge and bezel just arrived. This thing comes quite complete. All new sending units. Its the same size as the current Bronco gauges. Also the gauge speed will be gps based. No more dealing with guesses and tire size and gears stuff. It will just be accurate every time ;D Solving one issue at a time until there are no more......

Herman,
What gauges are those, where did ya get em, and what kinda price we talkin?

Thanks,
J.D.

So I got the front and rear sound deadening in. Installed all the carpets. I ran out of the dynamatt like stuff so I could not do the doors or the tailgate.

I took her out for a ride and its the strangest thing. I cant hear my exhaust from underneath. The engine sound if muffled and the weirdest thing of all. Where are my squeaks and rattles. With the exeption of a few rattles from the door which I will fix tomorrow, there are none......at the moment ;D

All I can say is that its one of the best 140 bucks I spent on the Bronco so far. The difference is night and day!!! I urge anyone to do the same.

Oh, did I mention no more hot feet? ;D The only issue I can think of is that I do like the sound of the exhaust so to hear it, I guess the skinny pedal will get a work out!!

Its already dark out so I will take pics of the interior tomorrow. The procar rally seats look hot!!

Herman,
Get those pictures up here, You're killin us with the suspense. ;D

So after playing with the Ford DUI install, which thanks to the help of a few people on here went smoothly, I decided that today was a good idea to get some of those parts in the living room onto the Bronco. Out with the old and in with the new. Specifically the frontrunner serpentine system from BCB made by vintage air and the Ron Davis Radiator setup.

I was really pleased to remove the "tupperware" looking items out of the engine compartment. I also noticed that there are a lot of things in there that I will no longer need. And while I was in there I started cleaning up some wires. My goal is basically cleanup.

During the DUI install I had minor clearance issues with the intake manifold. The manifold is some performance intake by Weland. Its a lot bulkier than say the Edelbrock performer manifolds. Well, while fitting the new timing chain cover I ran into clearance issues with the manifold. After a quick call to Chuck at BCB I decided to just get a new manifold. Im going with what BCB recommended in the first place. The Edelbrock Performer 2121. At least that will take care of all clearance issues.

While having everything out and more visible, I took a couple of pics. Can anyone ID the steering box?

Sorry about the cellphone pics.

Since I have to wait for the manifold I looked at some of the other parts and noticed this: The harmonic balancer has three holes and the pulley has 4  Any suggestions? There really is no such thing as easy bolt on with these older rigs.......

Wrong application pulley then. Did they sell this kit generically? Or was it listed specifically for the Bronco? Seems to me that they should have at least asked how many bolts on the damper before selling the kit.
EB's were 3-bolt pullies at least until the mid-seventies, but someone here just the other day (Viperwolf maybe?) said that, although Ford went to a 4-bolt pulley during that time, the EB stayed with 3 bolts during it's entire run.
Not sure, but either way, you've either got to get them to send you a 3-bolt pulley for their system, or get a later harmonic damper with the 4-bolt pattern that will fit your engine.

It's hard to tell by that dark pic, but from here your damper looks pretty crusty and the elastomeric rubber ring is looking pretty sad. Might be that you're in the market for a new damper anyway. If that's the case, then hopefully you can find a new damper from an early 28 oz. 302 that has the 4 bolts.
Maybe someone here has done that and can guide you there. Never had to deal with that myself.

Good luck.

Paul

Thanks Paul. I agree that it should have been mentioned by BC-Broncos being that they are the ones selling a "complete" kit. They do sell so called adapters but for a couple more bucks I can get a whole new balancer with 4 bolt holes. Te old one does seem a bit worn. The new manifold arrives tomorrow so hopefully this week Ill be ready to drive again ;D

I am so looking forward to it. Anything that involves more than one EB ;D

you won't be disappointed!

In the Bronco - probably not, in me - probably yes ;D

The Bezel ring comes from:

Intake Manifold just arrived from Summit ;D Looks like ill be taking the day off..... Those guys are crazy fast being that I ordered it yesterday evening around 5PM. And overnight shipping was 25 bucks for a 17 pound package. Can someone tell me why a lot of the Bronco suppliers charge over 8 bucks for snailmail for something that fits in an envelope? I dont get it....

Vendors wont use USPS, I think occasionally a couple do if you beg and plead. I usually order a couple other things that I will need to make the shipping worth it. USPS is pretty unreliable sometimes although I love their flat rate boxes.

Is that info above for the gauge pod or just the bezel? That modern cluster is awesome.

You need to get on the phone again with BC as they should have known to ask what balancer you have or if there isnt a 3 bolt one (not sure why that would be) then tell you that you will need to purchase a new balancer.

I'm interested in how the new manifold turns out because it looks to me like the new timing cover/ serp kit is just made wrong. They should not have made it fit so close to the water outlet.

Are any of the other manifolds cast different than that? I thought they were all the same. Hope it is just the one he has that is different. Looks like he could grind the thermostat housing down to get it to fit if need be.

They said that they have tested it with the performer manifold from edelbrock, so I went and got that one being that it will work better with the DUI anyways. Initial eyeballing, it looks like it will fit. There is no excuse for it not to. If not then Ill be pissed and I get pissed maybe once a year.

Im still kind of peeved about the whole bolt pattern thing with the balancer. If anything the pulley should have have come with the multi-bolt variety. Being that BC Broncos specialized in the EB they should have known that our rigs generally come with the three bolt pattern:mad:

I replaced my harmonic balancer at the end of last year or the begining of this year.....can't remember exactly....anyway, I got it from summit racing and it was around $85-$95 including shipping and it was drilled for 3 bolt or 4 bolt (more universal). Might be a good idea to pick one up if your balancer is looking bad/rough. Hope this helps. If you need part number, PM me and let me know and I will look at see if I can find it.

Thank you guys for the info on the damper/balancer. Its ordered and will be here tomorrow. So maybe if Im lucky ill have all that crap back on the engine.

The Edelbrock manifold arrived, so I thought Ill get some work done. Got it mounted. Man that thing is too clean for my enginebay. I felt bad for putting in the dark bolts. But then again it will get dirty anyway. It went on well and all looks good. So im thinking of working ahead even more thinking that all fitment issues are worked out. The timing chain cover can go on but the thermostat housing still has issues. I followed all instructions by BC Broncos and even got the manifold they said will work 100% with the frontrunner kit. Mind you that the thermostat housing was supplied by BCB also. I just dont want to deal with the crap anymore so I sent the cover to a machinist to modify the alternator bracket.

The whole reason for going with the kit is to avoid issues such as this. It costs a lot and with all the modifications I have had to do I could have just gone to a pick and pull yard. I really dont understand. The manifold issue I get but everything else should not have happened at all.

Either way. The cover will come back tomorrow and I will continue then. Here are some pics of the manifold mounted.

One question I do have is about the timing chain itself. Is this double chain setup standard on Broncos? Thats very beefy for a stock setup I would think.

I was looking around the back and noticed a whole bunch of crap. two smaller pipes run toward the back what seems to be going to the trans. I have to get uder the truck later to see where they go. In pictures I did not notice others having this. Are they breathers of some kind? I would like to get rid of that whole contraption and if they are breathers just put the small K&N breathers on there.

Thanks again guys for all the insight to this craziness we call our hobby!!;D

I was afraid of that. They just made the bracket wrong. There is no excuse for it. If they say it will fit, it should fit. I hate when you go out of the way to buy the more expensive parts so you won't have any problems and you still do.

The lines at the back are probably for your vacuum modulator on the tranny if you have a C4. You need to keep them.
